Is Peter August Really Dead on ‘General Hospital’ — Wes Ramsey Gone for Good? [UPDATE]
Peter August died today on General Hospital but is Wes Ramsey gone for good from the ABC soap? While he definitely seemed dead as a doornail, remember, this is a soap opera. Will GH resurrect this villain?
General Hospital Comings and Goings: Wes Ramsey out as Peter August
For fans that despise Peter August, it looks like he’s met his maker once and for all. But, on the flip, never count out a soap villain. Think about all the resurrected bad guys that came back to life on GH over the years.
And don’t forget, this isn’t the first time Peter “died” somewhere cold and unforgiving. He sure seemed dead after Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) shoved him down the stairs. And Liz Webber (Rebecca Herbst) helped stash him in a deep freezer.
But he persisted. However, the last time Peter cheated death, Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) helped him. Otherwise, that chilly box would have been the end of him. This time, again, Victor’s involved on General Hospital.
Spoilers see that Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) reported him dead to Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms). Yet we know that only decent people really die on the ABC soap. Good guys like Nathan West (Ryan Paevey). Villains persist.
Anna Devane’s Brutal Choice About Her Pseudo-Son on GH
For a long time, thanks to memory issues, Anna thought Peter August was her son. Even after the truth came out, it still pained her. His real mom, Alex Marick, is also presumed dead. But her body never turned up.
Still, it was hard for Anna to choose to let Peter die. She could have called for help on General Hospital, but she chose not to. And Felicia Jones (Kristina Wagner) told her she did the right thing. And she acknowledged was a hard choice it was for Anna.
But, she couldn’t let him die alone. So, she saw Peter August draw his last breath. And she closed his dead eyes. All of that sure looks like he’s pushing up daisies and won’t be back. But you can’t really count him out.
Victor’s men were on the ground in Switzerland. And his mom Alex is still MIA. That opens many possibilities. And while Vic wanted him dead, he also wanted the secrets in Peter’s head. So, he had a reason to save the villain.
Will Peter Come Back Later on General Hospital?
Even if we watch Peter August go feet first into a crematorium blaze, the soap could still bring him back. And yes, he was awful. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) couldn’t wait to toast her stepson’s demise. But GH Twitter already questions his survival.
Only Maxie and Anna shed a tear for him passing over. Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) lifted a cup with Dr. O too. And Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) told Austin Holt (Roger Howarth) she was relieved her brother died.
Over in Switzerland, Anna reassured Maxie that Peter’s really dead. But is it really the end on General Hospital? They never showed the WSB come and haul away his body. So, there’s always a chance some ally of his could revive him.
And since he’s Cassadine-adjacent, that means resurrection shouldn’t be a problem. Victor might need to revive him to get the mind-control secrets he so desperately wants. Wait to see. Dead’s not always dead on GH. So, Peter August might return…
UPDATE: Wes shared a photo of himself walking out of the halls at the ABC soap. He thanked the cast, crew, writers, and producers for his time on the show. So that confirms that he’s leaving for now. But, it also leaves it open for Peter August’s possible resurrection — as soaps are known to do!
