‘General Hospital’ Shocker: Is Anthony Geary Back for Sean Donely Goodbye Story?
General Hospital spoilers promised a huge surprise guest soon – and we’re wondering if it’s Anthony Geary back as iconic Luke Spencer for the tribute episode set to air on GH. Soon, Luke may return to pay his respects to his good friend Sean Donely (John Reilly) on the ABC soap opera.
Is Anthony Geary the Promised General Hospital Mystery Guest?
GH spoilers know that several legacy characters will be back soon for the late John Reilly’s tribute episode. They just announced his character, Sean Donely’s death, after a long battle with dementia. In real life, the actor passed in January from a heart attack. Now, Felicia Jones (Kristina Wagner) is on her way back along with Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough).
Plus, Mac Scorpio (John J. York) and Laura Spencer (Genie Francis) will take part as well. However, the powers that be on General Hospital say a big surprise is in store for viewers. Another legendary character will resurface, and it could very well be Luke Spencer. Frank Valentini promises a stunning mystery guest – and none of the ones we know so far are big shockers.
Fans will recall that Anthony Geary quit acting in 2015 and decided to retire in Amsterdam. Luke showed up for a moment in 2017 for Tracy Quartermaine’s (Jane Elliot) final episode. Although Tony Geary was ready to retire, it was rumored that there was more to the story. Part of the reason for his exit from GH was his animosity with then-head writer Ron Carlivati.
However, Carlivati no longer writes for the sudser – he’s over at Days of our Lives. So, there’s a chance that Tony could reprise his role of Luke Spencer for just an episode or two. Or they could even dial him in via Zoom to all of his old pals while they are at the memorial honoring Sean, suggest General Hospital spoilers. Many soaps have done similar dial-in appearances.
Farewell Scenes Airs Soon on GH – Luke Spencer Back?
The episode to pay tribute to Sean Donely airs shortly on General Hospital. Soon, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) heads to Ireland to attend the funeral services. Joining her are Mac and Felicia, as well as Robin and Laura. However, there is a shocking comeback ahead that is still under wraps.
There’s also a possibility that it could be Tiffany Donely (Sharon Wyatt) or even Frisco Jones (Jack Wagner). However, it would be huge for Luke Spencer to resurface. Sean and Luke were very close back in the day. Plus, they worked together when Tiffany was poisoned by Cesar Faison (Anders Hove).
Currently, that storyline connects to the Peter August (Wes Ramsey) plot. Recall, Peter took a page from Faison’s book by attempting to poison Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) and getting his brother-son instead. So, it would make perfect sense for Luke to pop up on General Hospital, even if it’s only briefly on the soap.
Major Drama Ahead on General Hospital – Will Tony Come Back as Luke?
This special installment of GH honors the past and plants the seeds for a dramatic climax that comes later this month in the tale of Faison’s awful son, Henrik. So, because of Peter’s connection to this legacy villain plot, his downfall could be around the corner, which is sure to thrill fans.
But, first, we may get an extra treat if Luke Spencer pops back up. No doubt, this must be close to Anthony Geary’s heart because he and Sean go way back to the 1980s heyday of the soap when it was a big-budget mainstream megahit. So, Tony may decide to make one more appearance on GH in remembrance of John Reilly.
