GH stars Luke Spencer and wife Laura Spencer are one of the most popular soap couples of all time. Fans may recall Luke first came to Port Chuck to help his sister Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) break up Laura and Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner). Of course, things didn’t begin well because Luke raped Laura. But, Laura eventually fell in love with Luke on General Hospital.

Over the years, Luke took Laura on many adventures such as the Ice Princess and running from Frank Smith (George Gaynes). Then, in 1981 Luke wed Laura on GH and their incredible ceremony was watched by an incredible 30 million viewers. To this day, Luke Spencer’s wedding to Laura Spencer remains the most-watched hour in soap history. #2 Robin and Stone’s Young Love on GH

Another epic and powerful love story on General Hospital was that of Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough) and Stone Cates (Michael Sutton). Robin’s uncle Mac Scorpio (John J York) warned them to stay apart because of his ties to mobster Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). But, they couldn’t stay away from each other on GH.

When Stone supposedly had the flu Robin took care of him. After an HIV test had a false negative he and Robin were intimate. Come to find out he was positive for HIV, and Robin caught the virus as well. Eventually, Stone passed away on General Hospital, which had a huge impact on fans. No doubt, their story was incredibly tragic on GH and will always stick with viewers.

#3 Sonny and Brenda on General Hospital

Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil) and Sonny Corinthos’ romance was a huge hit with GH followers. In fact, many viewers want Brenda to come back on to the scene. When she and Sonny met back in 1993, she was instantly smitten. But, he was with Lily Rivera (Lilly Melgar). Sonny wanted to be with Brenda, but Lily was pregnant, so that came between them on General Hospital.

Then, Lily was killed, but they still faced obstacle after obstacle that kept them apart. Eventually, Sonny proposed to Brenda. But, he left her at the altar on their wedding day because his life was too dangerous for her. Of course, in the end, he was with Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and still is to this day on GH. But, Brenda was surely very special to Sonny on General Hospital.

General Hospital: Edward Quartermaine (John Ingle) - Lila Quartermaine (Anna Lee)

#4 Powerhouse Couple Edward and Lila Quartermaine on GH

Lila Quartermaine (Anna Lee) and Edward Quartermaine (John Ingle) were the matriarch and patriarch of the Q family on General Hospital. Of course, everyone loved her. However, Lila was not without her problems she was so sweet and never bitter like the other Q’s. GH fans may recall, her rotten first husband came to town claiming she was still legally his wife.

So, her marriage to Edward was void and all their children were illegitimate on General Hospital. Eventually, they wed again but then Edward was thought to be dead. Even then, she barely shed a tear and had full-on conversations with his portrait which, amazingly, spoke back. In the end, their love prevailed overall until Lila died in her sleep in 2004. She is still in the hearts of everyone who was lucky enough to know her.

General Hospital Spoilers: Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) - Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco)

#5 Sam and Jason on General Hospital

One GH power couple fans still route for today is Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco). Years ago, Sam was pregnant with Sonny’s baby. However, he was with Carly so Jason said the baby was his. Then, when the child was stillborn Jason was there to help Sam cope. Of course, they eventually fell in love and made to marry. As the years went on, they had one problem after another and sometimes were even torn apart.

But, their love never wavered. Currently, they are apart once again but spoilers suggest they will reunite and possibly even remarry once new General Hospital episodes air. Right now, fans can catch throwback episodes until production resumes. Perhaps, classic Laura Spencer and Luke Spencer episodes are next on the ABC sudser.
