‘General Hospital’: Michael vs. Sonny Corinthos – Whose Side Are You On?

General Hospital father and son Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) seem headed for war. Family feuds are pretty common on soaps. But this one’s a doozy. This could rip the family apart. GH fans are quickly choosing sides. Where do you fall in Michael vs. Sonny?

General Hospital: Michael Corinthos’ Side

In this General Hospital corner, it’s Michael Corinthos. Fans of Michael believe that he had every right to tell his father off and basically disown him. He is Carly Corinthos’ (Laura Wright) son, after all. His temper got the best of him, just like his mama.

Michael was thrilled to see that his dad was alive when he returned from Nixon Falls, just like the rest of the family. But it didn’t take too long to see the change in Sonny, and his son didn’t like what he saw.

Michael was angry when his mobster father made a deal with Selina Wu (Lydia Look) to not interfere with Brad Cooper’s (Parry Shen) parole hearing. Michael would have liked to see Brad rot in jail forever but that didn’t happen. He blamed his father.

But the young Mr. Corinthos really blew up on General Hospital when Sonny Corinthos would not testify against Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), after Mikey got a district attorney to press charges against her.

He completely lost it when his father admitted to having a relationship with Nina on the stand. The final straw was Carly finding Nina in bed with her then-husband.

That ended their marriage and Michael Corinthos found this unforgivable. The mob boss has done many horrible things on General Hospital, which most children would have a hard time forgiving.

But this is where Michael drew the line in the sand. He told his dad that he is done with him, and said many terrible things to him in the process. Was he right to do this?

General Hospital: Sonny Corinthos’ Side

And in this General Hospital corner…Sonny Corinthos. Fans of Sonny believe Mikey is acting like a spoiled brat. Sure, Sonny has made mistakes, but who hasn’t? He loves his kids and is always there for them.

Sonny did come back from the dead a changed man. He is softer, and less ruthless. That is not necessarily the terrible thing Michael thinks it is. Sonny has feelings for Nina and may not have acted on them in the best way.

But General Hospital fans believe that should be between Carly and her husband. Carly is definitely strong enough to handle this on her own, so she doesn’t need her son to defend her.

A Dad’s love life is not his son’s business. Sonny Corinthos has also tried to apologize and make amends but Michael Corinthos will not hear it. He is acting like he is better than his father.

But, in reality, he has made some bad mistakes too, on General Hospital. He was with Nell Hayes (Chloe Lanier) after she drugged and set up Sonny to make it look like they slept together.

More recently, he had an affair with Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) while she was still married to Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), his best friend. Michael shouldn’t be throwing stones from his glass house. Is Sonny in the right?

Whose Side Are You On?

Father and son have been down this road before. Michael Corinthos stopped speaking to his dad a few years back because he blamed him for the death of his biological father, AJ Quartermaine (Sean Kanan).

But Carly helped that situation, which she probably won’t do this time. Soon, General Hospital will find out that Willow is truly Nina’s daughter. This may change many things in Port Charles, including this family feud.

Could it soften Willow’s feelings for Nina, and possibly her husband’s? Or will it make everything worse on this ABC soap? Until then, will the bad feelings rage on? Who are you more sympathetic to Michael Corinthos or mob-daddy Sonny Corinthos.
