Doubling Down with the Derricos‘ Karen Derrico is a supermom. And her husband, Deon Derrico, said she is a that — as well as a queen. And fans couldn’t agree more that she’s done some amazing things.
Doubling Down with the Derricos: Deon Derrico Worried for Karen
When we first met TLC’s Karen Derrico and Deon Derrico, it wasn’t long until she was in the hospital. Deon from TV series Doubling Down with the Derricos was worried about his wife, but she worried about leaving him home alone. Having 11 kids to take care of at home by himself wasn’t easy. But Deon assured her he was up for the job.
With minimal tears, Karen was off to the hospital, and the kids were back to their normal routines. After a short time, Deon could tell that he needed help, so he called him mom in to help him out. She came down from Detroit to Las Vegas and surprised the children from Doubling Down with the Derricos on her birthday.
The kids loved having their grandmother there. But you could tell they still missed their mother, Karen, very much. Even so, everyone understood that she needed to be in the hospital on bed rest so the babies could be safe.
Earthquake Sends Karen Derrico into Labor
Despite their best efforts, Doubling Down with the Derricos star Karen couldn’t keep the babies in any longer than 28 weeks. If an earthquake hadn’t shaken her up, she might have made it a little longer. But the fact of the matter is that the contractions came because of the earthquake.
Her nurse tried to reassure Karen Derrico, but the contractions kept coming, and so did the babies. But with Karen for Doubling Down with the Derricos, it wasn’t a normal birth. She couldn’t just let the babies come. Her pregnancy was high risk, and the babies were so little.
Karen had to get a c-section to get the babies out safely. Thankfully, the doctors got all of the babies out. But the c-section lasted more than twice as long as it should have. Karen Derrico even said her anesthesia wore off before the procedure was completion.
Doubling Down with the Derricos: Happy, Healthy Triplets
Karen and her hubby Deon from Doubling Down with the Derricos worried for the health of their triplets. One of babies in their last set of triplets died just after birth. So, they worried it might happen again. Losing that baby, Carter, was very difficult despite the health of the other babies.
This time, all three Doubling Down with the Derricos babies arrived and survived. But one baby has a hole in her heart. So, little Dawsyn Derrico needed two heart surgeries. One of the surgeries was to put a stint in her little heart, and the other was to repair the hole.
Despite Karen and Deon Derrico’s happiness to have the other two babies, De’Aren and Dyver, home, it was still sad that Dawsyn didn’t get to come home yet. Everyone is thankful that the TLC family is doing well even if all of the kids aren’t together for the holiday.
