Sister Wives star Kody Brown has made desperate attempts in the past to keep the show on the air. So, after his TLC reality show dropped 1 million viewers, did he get desperate again?
Sister Wives – How Far Will Kody Brown Go?
Season 15 debuted with less than 1 million viewers from the previous season. The premiere episode for Season 15 gathered only 1.429,000. This was about 1 million viewers less than the number from the end of Sister Wives Season 14, at 2,381,000
So, it seems they excited Season 16 with more adult-like content for the fans. One of the more recent topics is intimacy or lack of it between Kody and his wives.
Viewers were turned off by some things Kody Brown said about the women he married. Many also thought he became cruel to some of his wives this season as well.
But is this only a strategy to get the viewer numbers up? Some fans think so. And if this is the case, it worked. The drama spun this season, keeping fans coming back. Then, of course, one wife up and left him for good.
Or at least Christine Brown says she’s not returning. So, it seems they did something right for the viewer numbers to explode. With Season 16 nearing the end, many viewers are tuning in.
According to the most recent ratings, Sister Wives made its way to the top of the chart. It came in number two in the Top 50 Original Cable Telecasts for Sunday, January 30, 2022.
Kody Turns It Around
Again, Kody has done some over-the-top things in the past to keep his show afloat. Each Sister Wives adult receives a salary for appearing on the show. When cancelation loomed after Season 11, Kody Brown begged them to keep the show going.
He agreed to cut the five salaries down to one. Since the show went on to Season 12 and beyond, it looks like they took the deal. So, it’s likely they did something different to bring up the ratings for Season 16. And that could be what the fans saw on the screen. It seems nothing was left private for the Brown family.
From what fans saw this season, it looks as if they opened the doors a little wider for a detailed look at their lives. Fans are not used to this much transparency from the Sister Wives adults.
At times, too much information surfaces about one wife or another. So, was this a tactic of Kody Brown’s as the show seemed to circle the drain? If it is, well — it worked.
Sister Wives: Season 17 Already Filming
So, this TLC reality show with Kody Brown at the helm managed to get itself up from the bottom of the list. It soared up the list and made its way into spot number two for cable shows on Sunday nights.
Fans questioned if this more in-depth look at Kody and his Sister Wives has to do with getting the ratings up. But while that could be the case, no one is confirming or denying this. There is mention of this from either the Sister Wives family or TLC.
Now with Sister Wives: One on One airing three parts on consecutive Sunday nights, there’s more to come. The adult content of intimacy seems front and center.

Host Sukanya Krishnan asks the hard questions. She’s also coming at Kody Brown with many of the questions fans ask. One of the things viewers wanted to know — what wives still sleep with Kody? Well, that is only one, Robyn Brown.
Fans knew Christine was out of Kody’s life. He also made it clear he wasn’t sleeping with Meri as well, but when it came to Janelle’s intimacy with Kody, no one was talking. But now Kody spilled the beans. It sounds like no nookie for Janelle, either.
So, Robyn Brown is the only wife having marital relations with the shared husband. And the ratings keep going up, go figure.
