‘Days of Our Lives’ Comings and Goings: Will Horton Gets a ‘New’ Husband in ‘Beyond Salem’ Spinoff
Days of Our Lives comings and goings reveal Will Horton (Chandler Massey) is back for the NBC spinoff Beyond Salem but he’ll have a “new” husband at his side. Plus, other familiar faces join the growing cast list for the DOOL streaming show begins sometime soon on NBC’s Peacock streaming platform.
Days of Our Lives Comings and Goings: More Will Horton But New Hubby as Sonny Kiriakis Recast
DOOL comings and goings confirm Chandler Massey returns as Will Horton on the new spin-off mini-series. Will Horton made a brief appearance for the holidays last year on Days of our Lives. Recaps reminds that Will moved to Phoenix, Arizona with his husband, Sonny Kiriakis (then Freddie Smith) and their daughter Arianna Horton.
However, after their prolonged absence from Days, Freddie and his wife, Alyssa Tabit relocated to Florida. And the actor said he wouldn’t come back as Sonny. He said he needed to move forward with his life. As a result, when Will Horton pops up on Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem, it’ll look at a glance like he’s got a new husband.
But it’s just a recast of the role of Sonny. DOOL showrunners selected Young and the Restless alum Zach Tinker (Fenmore Baldwin) to pick up where Freddie Smith left off. Every now and then, Zach crops up on Y&R, and he’s in several other projects, but this Days-spinoff is a short five-episode run, so he’s got the time.
Watch for new-Sonny with his hubby Will as Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) heads to Arizona to visit friends, per Days of Our Lives spoilers. Will Horton, Sonny Kiriakis, and Chad DiMera have been friends for a long time. They will need to work with other Salemites across the globe to solve the case of the missing gems and save Salem. Moreover, spoilers hint at a run-in with nemesis Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) along the way.
DOOL’S Beyond Salem Piles on Cast Members
The soap world is abuzz with the latest news about Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem. In addition to Chandler Massey as Will Horton and Zach Tinker as the new face of his his hubby Sonny Kiriakis, other Salem couples joined the spin-off show. Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis}, along with his wife Anna (Leann Hunley) join forces with Carrie Brady (Christie Clark) and Austin Reed (Austin Peck).
Plus, Days of our Lives casting news says Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) reunites with Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) and travels to New Orleans for romance. Plus, John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and his sweetie, Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), fly to Zurich. Meanwhile, Lani Price (Sal Stowers) and hubby Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) vacation in Miami with Abe Carver (James Reynolds) and Paulina Price (Jackee Harry).

The latest addition is Eileen Davidson, but no word on which of her several characters she’ll embody in the spinoff. Most fans seem to be chanting for Kristen DiMera as the role she’ll fill. We’ll let you know when we do. All the Days of our Lives characters are in different locales but are enmeshed in the same stolen jewel mystery. Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Another Powerful Man Slinks into Salem
DOOL spoilers for casting reveals another power player enters Salem soon. Could that refer to recast and SORAS’d Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman)? Maybe – but maybe not. Soon, he’ll come home to his family. Johnny is all grown up, and might be as power-hungry as his father EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel). But it sure sounds like someone else comes to Salem in this Days of our Lives spoiler.
As for Johnny, spoilers hint he’s a bad boy. And he’s got romance on his mind when he lays eyes on Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens). DOOL news suggests sibling rivalry for the twins over the talented young baker. Remember, Chanel’s got the hots for his twin sis Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold). Will Johnny and Allie fight over the Chanel in a twisted-twin love triangle on Days of our Lives?

There’s just a few days left before the NBC soap is back from Olympic pre-emptions. New episodes return August 9 – this Monday. In the meantime, get ready to meet Will Horton’s “new” husband, as Sonny gets a new face, transplanted from Y&R‘s Genoa City. There’s no release date yet for Beyond Salem. So, we’ll have to wait to see Zach Tinker take over the role from Freddie Smith.
