‘I Am Jazz’: Is Jazz Jennings Going to Major in Medicine?
Jazz Jennings seems to be considering a career as a doctor on I Am Jazz. She is currently at Harvard University. And it looks like she may plan on going to medical school next. See what inspires her in this new direction on the TLC show.
Jazz Jennings Observes Top Surgery
Jazz Jennings took an internship to prove to Harvard that she is ready to attend school. She’s working at a plastic surgeon’s office. Dr. Sidhbh Gallagher is a surgeon who specializes in gender confirmation procedures.
Knowing Jazz’s personal experience, Dr. Gallagher let her join a consultation for Noah Boutilier on a prior episode. Now, Noah’s back for his top surgery. And the doctor lets Jazz sit in and observe the surgery.

On the day of the surgery, she’s excited to be there for Noah who is about to go through a life-changing procedure. Noah’s getting top surgery on I Am Jazz. And, the doctor’s reshaping the nips to be more masculine.
It has been over three years since Jazz’s bottom surgery. She remembers how excited she was the day of. The Harvard freshman was “beaming.” And now, she gets to witness someone else go through that experience.
TLC Star Sees Procedure in New Perspective
During the procedure, Jazz Jennings impresses Dr. Sidhbh Gallagher with her knowledge acquired throughout her internship. She seems to have gained an interest in the medical field by spending so much time at the office.
The top surgery takes about two to three hours. So, throughout the procedure, Dr. Gallagher keeps asking the I Am Jazz star if she is doing well. The TLC star assures her that she is “okay.” However, she also says she has “never seen anything like this before.”

When Jazz Jennings started the internship, she didn’t think she would end up in the operating room. She has been in the OR many times as a patient. But, she is now able to get a whole new perspective from being on the other side of the table.
Jazz finds the surgery interesting to watch. She isn’t even able to take her eyes off what Dr. Gallagher is doing to her patient. She finds the doctor’s skills at tying the stitches impressive. She also feels that the doctor has a “confidence about her” that she admires.
Medical School an Option After Harvard
Jazz Jennings can’t wait to tell her family about her experience witnessing a surgery. So, she goes on a sunset cruise with her family to share the news. It will be the last time she gets to be with everyone before going off to college.
The I Am Jazz castmate tells her family that she has exciting news to share. She tells them that she “got to play doctor for a day”. And watch a procedure being done on a female to male trans patient. She believes that Dr. Sidhbh Gallagher is an artist.
But what does she think about the medical field? Being able to change people’s lives is everything Jazz Jennings stands for. So, she is considering a career as a medical professional.
She isn’t going to eliminate going to medical school as an option for her. So, could fans be calling her Dr. Jennings in the future?
