’90 Day Fiance’: Was Andrei & Charlie’s Fight a Set up for Spinoff – Did TLC Leak Show Name?

90 Day Fiance had Andrei Castravet fighting Charlie Potthast on Happily Ever After but fans are crying foul and saying the brawl could be trumped-up fodder for a hoped-for spinoff. So, is the animosity between Elizabeth Potthast’s husband and her family the real deal or some sort of try-out for another go on TLC?

90 Day Fiance: Andrei Castravet Faux-Fight With Charlie Potthast?

Since the season of Happily Ever After was first teased, footage of this Charlie Potthast vs. Andrei Castravet fight was front and center. Plus, there was the much ballyhooed boat scuffle with Elizabeth and sister Becky that was nothing more than wine flinging and shrieking.

And then there was the RV drama with everyone (aside from Charlie Potthast and his wife) yelling at Andrei Castravet. It seems like something 90 Day Fiance producers might do – to set up that scenario that would rub everyone the wrong way, right?

But just how legit is all this fussing and fighting? While Elizabeth Potthast posted lovely photos of daughter Eleanor Castravet’s birthday, on 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After, it was a total disaster scene. So, which is the real deal?

Is this a case of scripted reality? Or do Libby’s brother Charlie and her husband Andrei really run violently hot and cold with each other? Plus, the choreography of the 90 Day Fiance fight has viewers skeptical. The women fight afterwards looked rougher.

Happily Ever After Fans Ask – Who Fights Like That?

On the recent episode of the 90 Day Fiance spinoff, there’s a family dinner where Andrei Potthast talks business with father-in-law Chuck Potthast. Of course, that rubs Libby’s sisters the wrong way. So, the usual sniping back and forth with Andrei commences.

Then, Charlie Potthast comes in and Andrei tells him take a seat on 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After. It’s not even a “take a seat” diss sort of way. But Charlie loses it. Andrei yells back. And then it’s the “fight”. But the guys don’t punch each other – which is standard for any fight…

Nope – Andrei Castravet doesn’t just pop Charlie Potthast. Or vice versa. Instead, on 90 Day Fiance, they seem to be trying to pull each other’s shirts off. It’s more of a wrestling match with a lot of f-bomb trash talk. Then the women screamed at each other and it devolved from there. What really upset fans was Chuck Potthast’s tears. And that none of his kids comforted him while he bawled.

Will Andrei, Charlie & Family Get 90 Day Fiance Spinoff – Show Name Revealed?

Over the last couple of years, TLC and parent streaming platform Discovery+ have spawned a multitude of franchise shows from its main cash cow 90 Day Fiance. Twins Stacey and Darcey Silva got their own program. And a bevy of castoffs landed on Single Life.

And Pillow Talk simply rehashes material from TLC’s other spawn with ex-cast laughing about it.  Then, there’s Chantel Everett and her crew who got the first dedicated 90 Day Fiance family franchise, The Family Chantel. With TLC bringing back Andrei, wife Libby, her brother Charlie, and the rest so often- they must see profit potential with the Potthasts too.

In fact, Andrei, with Libby, have been on 10 different iterations of the show. There’s the main program, plus – What Now?, Self-Quarantined, Strikes Back!, Diaries, Bares All, Pillow Talk, Love Games, Happily Ever After?, and Lovers’ Collection – a best of compilation type show. That’s a whole lot of reality TV paychecks…Why not one more?

90 Day Fiance: Elizabeth Potthast - Becky Potthast - Happily Ever After

As you can see above, from an official 90 Day Fiance clip, it even looks like TLC might have picked out a name for this potential Potthast pilot. See above, how the video’s branded The Family Libby? Maybe they were just having fun with words. Or maybe it’s a hint of a spinoff to come and what it might be called.

TLC Seems to Love a Good Brawl – My Dinner with Andrei…

So, after seeing Happily Ever After and Charlie go at it with Andrei – without doing much real damage – the family freaked. Even the crew got involved. But, look closely to see if Andrei Castravet or Charlie Potthast throws a punch. It didn’t look like anyone did any real damage. So, was this a real fight or an audition for their own show?

Remember that epic dinner fight Pedro Jimeno’s big dinner fight with the Everetts? See above to refresh your memory. That was also on 90 Day Fiance: Happily ever After. And after that chaos. Pedro and Chantel got their own show. So, is that what Libby, Andrei, Charlie and the Potthast gang hope for?

Are they pitting Charlie Potthast against Andrei Castravet in a similar dinner disaster to get more TLC time? If they are choreographing these shenanigans, someone should let poor Chuck know so he doesn’t have a heart attack… We’ll have to wait and see if Discovery announce The Family Libby in its next round of new programming.
