90 Day Fiance has Sumit Singh and Jenny Slatten’s relationship trying its hardest to move forward. Many fans know that for this couple to work, Sumit needs his family’s approval of Jenny. But in the past, it’s been hard to get any because of the age difference between the couple. With Sumit being 32 and Jenny being 61, his parents don’t seem to understand their love. But Sumit is hoping that letting them know about how he is engaged to her shows them they are meant for each other.

For a long time, Jenny has been shunned by Sumit’s family. And while he goes and celebrates holidays and milestones with his family, Jenny says she feels left out. She wants to be able to feel like a part of his family. Sumit goes and attends the celebration of his brother, Amit Singh’s wife, Shree Singh’s pregnancy alone. But he has the intent to tell his family the truth. Sumit says that he is engaged now, and the reaction is not what he expects.

90 Day Fiance keeps Sumit Singh fighting for his family to accept Jenny Slatten as a part of the family. At the celebration of his brother’s baby, he points out that he would like Jenny to come to family things. Shree Singh says that Jenny is welcome as his friend to any family event anytime. Sumit Singh adds on just not as a family member. His mom, Sadhna Singh, explains how if he marries her, the community will shun the whole family.

After the engagement announcement, things get worse. An awkward silence leads to Sadhna crying and leaving the room slowly. Amit says he is surprised. Shree explains that Sumit should have told his parents before he made any decisions. But Sumit says he tried. Then his father, Anil Singh, leaves the room after Sadhna. And before they all leave him there, Amit says he doesn’t want the negative energy of Jenny and Sumit to affect his baby.

Sumit also talks about a phone call between him and his mother. She says how if he doesn’t come back and leave Jenny, then she will make his life a living hell. Jenny says she is hurting too and doesn’t want to break up his family. But he says it’s not her fault.

Sumit says that growing up was hard because his mom was the boss. He learned to lie from his father because he would say whatever to make Sadhna Singh happy. Soap Dirt reports that now, Sumit is done with lying and wants to be able to say how he feels. He also knows just why his mom feels the way she does. He says when his sister was eight months old, she died of jaundice. This is something she can’t get past.

Sumit Singh from 90 Day Fiance tells fans how when his sister was eight months old, she died. He says his mother has been missing a daughter figure ever since. When he married his first wife, she filled that role for Sadhna Singh because she would spend time with her and help with chores. Now that they are divorced, though, he says his mother blames him for the loss of her daughter. And Jenny as well.

Sumit says he feels as though his mother is getting revenge on him by not approving of the marriage for divorcing his ex-wife.

She blames Jenny for being the reason they are no longer together. He thinks for their family to move forward, they need to go to counseling.
