’90 Day Fiance’: Sumit’s Mom Wants to Teach Jenny a Lesson
90 Day Fiance star Sumit Singh and Jenny Slatten are stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to a request from his parents. Will this change the dynamic of the relationship?
90 Day Fiance: Sumit Singh & Jenny Slatten in Family Therapy
90 Day Fiance has Sumit Singh and Jenny Slatten, who are trying to convince his mom Sadhna Singh to approve of their relationship. For years they have tried, but due to their age difference, they have failed at getting a blessing. Anil Singh, his father, agrees with Sadhna and thinks the relationship is wrong. She is older than his mother, and that makes for a very awkward family dynamic. Jenny, who is 62, and Sumit, who is 31, doesn’t care about their age difference, though.

In one last attempt to get his parents to see that they love each other and want to get married, Sumit asks his parents to a family therapist. They agree to go, but Jenny is on edge because the last time they saw her, they yelled at her and took him away. She just wants to be able to feel like a part of the family and be able to attend events with them. Soap Dirt previously covered all the reasons his parents do not want them to marry.
TLC: Time to Talk about Feelings
90 Day Fiance keeps Sumit Singh and his partner Jenny Slatten feeling awkward as they enter the counselor’s office. With Sadhna and Anil Singh already there, the only thing to do is start. The counselor, Ushma, asks Sadhna how it feels to see her son with Jenny. She says there is nothing good in her mind. Anil says it’s hard to digest that his son really wants to marry someone older than his mother. They admit their biggest problem is her age.
Ushma gives in the site that every Indian household comes with emotional war. But they have a unique situation. Ushma says that in Indian culture, age difference is a big problem because age can’t change. His parents ask who will take care of him if the relationship with Jenny ends for any reason and what will happen to them. It’s unusual to marry at a higher age in India, so if something were to happen to her or their relationship end, the likelihood of Sumit marrying is low. But he says they don’t want anyone but each other.
The Other Way: Jenny Slatten Doesn’t Want Anyone but Sumit Singh
90 Day Fiance’ Jenny Slatten says that if her relationship with Sumit Singh ends, she won’t find anyone else. Sadhna Singh asks if Jenny would rather be alone than with someone else? Jenny says yes. Sadhna then says if she is okay being alone in five to ten years when the relationship might end, then she should be okay living alone now.
Jenny then explains that they came for counseling, and she doesn’t feel like they are reaching any type of solution. She says they are staying in the same place and that Sumit will never choose her over his parents. But he says he is not done trying to convince them to give her a chance. Ushma asks Sadhna to try and understand their love a little. She says that Sadhna is trying to protect her child, but now she needs to let Sumit make his own life choices. Sadhna says she will try and give Jenny a chance but under some conditions.
90 Day Fiance: Jenny Has a Moving Day
Jenny Slatten from 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way is surprised to hear that Sadhna Singh is willing to try and accept her. Sumit Singh is over the moon and wants to take on his parent’s conditions. Sadhna says she wants to teach her a lesson on how to be a traditional Indian wife to make sure she will take care of him. To do this, she says she and Anil Singh will be moving in with them. Sumit says yes because he thinks the idea is great and he can prove his and Jenny’s love.
Without talking to Jenny, Sumit agrees. Jenny says she doesn’t want his parents moving in with them. But Sumit says this is the best option. This way, they can get to know her too. He also says he misses his parents very much, and this is the best way to see everyone he loves.
