’90 Day Fiance’: Steven Frend and Olga Need Help – New Go Fund Me Explains Plan for the Future

90 Day Fiance stars Steven Frend and Olga Koshimbetova have a new Go Fund Me that began today to try and help their young family get off on the right foot in America. Steven explains in the GFM campaign that he doesn’t like to ask for money but they could use some support as he and Olga transition with baby Richie to life in America. Here’s a look at the fundraising effort and what the young couple plans for their future in the US.

We vetted and verified the campaign to ensure it is legitimate. The link to their Go Fund Me is below and it’s the real deal.

Update: There is another campaign called Olga from 90 Day Fiance. This is not Olga’s GFM.

Olga and Steven Frend – Unlike Any Other 90 Day Fiance Pair

Olga Koshimbetova and Steven are unlike any couple that has been on 90 Day Fiance before. The couples are usually Americans in their 30s, 40s (or 50s) looking for love online and meeting a foreigner. These two met face to face in Ocean City, Maryland while Olga was visiting the US on a break from college. That led to romance and then a surprise pregnancy. Neither was expecting any of this to happen, so their story is drastically different from the others on the TLC show this season.

Compare them for instance to 90 Day Fiance‘s Kalani Faagata and Asuelu Pulaa. She has a family that’s given them a home, car, and everything they need for her and the baby. Then there’s Larissa Christina and Colt Johnson. He’s got a great job and a wife that’s crazy about him (and maybe a little bit crazy) and he’s cheating on her with women online. Jonathan Rivera and Fernanda Flores both have caring family members involved with them. And Ashley Martson has a strong support network for her and Jay Smith. Olga and Steven have none of this.

Olga Koshimbetova and Steven’s Sad Backstories

What we see on screen on 90 Day Fiance is just the tip of the iceberg and many things never make it to air. As 90 Day Fiance fans know, there’s a lot that Sharp Entertainment leaves out or edits to be very misleading. Olga and Steven Frend have been the victim of some of this extremely selective editing, according to an inside source at TLC that is familiar with production at the show. Of course, it’s not just them. Sharp maximizes drama by cutting footage together, using misleading voiceovers and a whole host of shady techniques to keep viewers on edge.

One thing TLC left out is details on Olga and Steven’s history. We reported recently that Olga Koshimbetova has almost no family because her parents killed her sister and were sent away permanently to a psychiatric facility for the criminally insane. This happened when Olga was just 13. Even at that young age, she protected her sister’s children and called 911 to report the crime. That’s how she wound up in an orphanage which 90 Day Fiance mentioned only in passing.

Steven Frend also grew up essentially with no parents around. The reason he initially dropped out of high school was his mother threw him out and he had to support himself. That was after years of estrangement and abandonment. As we saw on 90 Day Fiance, he’s got one set of grandparents and that’s about it. On TLC Live last week, we met the woman who treats him like he’s a son, and she spoke highly of Steven. Both Olga and Steven came from difficult backgrounds and that probably is part of why they bonded.

Steven Frend Makes Plans for Family’s Future

With no family network of support, an unplanned pregnancy in your early 20s is no cake walk. However, according to Steven’s Go Fund Me campaign page, he’s got a plan in place for his family. He just needs a little help to get started. The Go Fund Me is titled “Child Expenses” and starts out saying “drastic times call for drastic measures”. Then he says he’s trying his “hardest to get his life on track” but says they face some hardships. He mentions that Olga is ineligible to work. This is typical for TLC’s 90 Day Fiance candidates on a K1 visa.

Steven goes on to say that he has short and long-term plans to make a good life for Olga and Richie. First, he landed a job as a fire sprinkler installer. Second, he’s back in college and is setting his class schedule around the full-time job. Right now, he says the job initially pays $16 and hour but will increase to $30-35 an hour once he’s out of the apprenticeship phase. However, he says “$16 an hour isn’t enough to support a family of 3” and pay the bills.

Steven Frend said on the Go Fund Me that he’s “nervous on how things will play out”. But he says he has “faith god will take matters into his own hands”. He also added that he felt bad asking for help but “I must do what is best to support my family”. He closes the message with a wish for everyone to have a happy holiday.

90 Day Fiance: Steven Frend - Olga Koshimbetova

Steven and Olga’s Go Fund Me Versus Others

Several 90 Day Fiance couples have run Go Fund Mes before. Jon Walters and Rachel Bear Walters ran a Go Fund Me to facilitate their travel expenses. There’s on big difference though. Jon and Rachel are well into their 30s. Olga and Steven are in their early 20s. It’s a challenge to have an unplanned child that young, much less with someone from halfway around the world. There has been a lot of criticism around the couples this season of the TLC show.

But as Larissa Christina said in a recent Instagram rant. The production company films for 10 hours a day to get 10 minutes of footage. And they choose what makes the cast look the worst. That’s likely just as true of all the couples, not just Larissa and her hubby. Olga and Steven are sleep-deprived young people trying to figure out their future. All while raising a new baby with stresses that most people that age wouldn’t handle well. Perhaps when the show is all said and done and their NDAs expire, Olga and Steven can tell their side of the story.
