Young and the Restless: 5 Sizzling New Couples That Could Save Y&R – Must-See Chemistry!

Young and the Restless fans, we all know that Y&R needs something to change. And some wild couple shakeups could save this soap and make it watchable again. If the CBS soap did these couples we’re going to talk about, it would be deliciously dramatic, sexy, and soapy.

We’re going to talk about five pairings that would cause massive drama on the Y&R canvas and really wake up things and really shake up things.

And then there are fan favorite ships that they want reunited that are being kept apart. And then we have some that are in a very lackluster stage, I will call it, like where Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) are together, but they really are not, you know. So Josh Griffith needs to up his game or get out of the way. My vote is get out of the way for another writer.

Adam and Sally: Rekindling a Fan-Favorite Romance

Let’s start with a couple that has passionate fans that will never give up on their ship, and that is Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope). So many people dig this couple together. I’m right there with them. Fans weren’t happy back when Nick got between Adam and Sally, but Adam stuck with it because he loves Sally and he finally won her back. And then when they had been happy for a while, just almost randomly out of the blue, Adam and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) slept together in Baltimore, betraying both Sally and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson).

I’ve mentioned before that there’s backstage gossip that Melissa Claire Egan, who plays Chelsea, was the one who wanted Adam back with Chelsea and asked the head writer to do it. That’s what I’ve heard. And I know actors don’t always get their way, but sometimes they do. So that’s gossip, not a fact, but I think it’s an interesting part of the conversation. So we know fans adored Adam being with Sally.

And at the same time, Chelsea and Billy had a pretty solid fan base. So viewers were in an uproar when Chelsea and Adam cheated and Y&R wrecked both of these couples to put Adam back with Chelsea. And fans are even more aggravated now because Adam and Chelsea, you know, individually are pretty wild, kind of unpredictable, but now that they’re together, it’s like watching paint dry. So, if Adam and Sally got back together, for me, that would be a ratings win.

A Twisted New Pairing: Holden and Chelsea’s Chaotic Potential on Y&R

And then if Adam and Chelsea split up to make room for that, that would pave the way for the second twisted couple on our list, which is Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) and Chelsea. I think this could be a really fun pairing. Holden has mellowed a little bit, but when he first came to town, he was much more of a bad boy schemer. And Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) once said Holden was reckless and even scary back in the day. And Chelsea, as we know, back in the day was a con woman with a really dark side. She’s got a sketchy past.

So, putting Chelsea with Holden could be really fun and maybe they could cause some chaos and trouble together. They would be a lot more entertaining together than they are right now, I think. Plus, we already saw Holden and Chelsea interact when Holden tried to get to know her on Cane’s orders, and she knew immediately what he was up to since Chelsea is as bad as Holden. But I saw sparks, a little something there, some potential. Plus, if Chelsea got with Holden, that would leave Billy single.

Billy Abbott and Audra Charles: A Young and the Restless Power Couple in the Making

Which brings us to our next pairing, which I think would be really spicy. That is Audra with Billy Abbott. Those two are actually very similar if you think about it. Audra and Billy are both very passionate about business and determined to make something of themselves. She has a dodgy family and a body built for sin and a brain built for business while Billy is hot from a good family, but has so many personal demons that he’s just a hot mess all around.

Audra and Billy both really want to prove that they can be successful and powerful, but they are also both impulsive and ruthless and get in over their head all the time. I honestly think Audra with Billy could be an electric pairing and it would be nice because it would be something fresh and new, which is very rare on a lot of soaps.

Character Comebacks: Shaking Up Y&R with Summer and Theo

So, the next couple I think could really save Young and the Restless from being as dull as it has been lately, is a couple of comebacks. Technically, two couples made from comebacks. First, I want to talk about Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) and Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson). A lot of fans would really like to see Summer back to Young and the Restless. She is currently in Italy because when Allison Lanier’s contract was up, they didn’t renew her, but they could try to bring back her as Summer or they could recast the role.

Her return would shake things up, especially if Theo came back with Summer. We all know that Kyle Abbott‘s (Michael Mealor) cousin Theo always rubs him the wrong way. But he is also technically, he’s not an Abbott, he’s a Mergeron, but he is part of the Abbott family. So, Summer might enjoy pushing Kyle’s buttons by getting with Theo. And if you recall when Kyle was with Lola, we had Summer and Theo enjoying a no-strings fling.

That was back in the Hunter King days. But maybe this time Summer and Theo return and they’re in a real relationship. I mean, Summer wants payback on Kyle for him sleeping with Audra and then falling for Claire Grace Newman (Hayley Erin). And she and Theo could return actually in love or faking a big romance to try and stir jealousy. Either option would be a lot of soapy fun.

A Blast from the Past: Should Lola Rosales Return for Kyle?

I think a lot of fans would be happy to have Summer and Theo back. And speaking of returns and blasts from the past, if we’re giving Summer and Theo a shot at love, why not bring back Lola Rosales? Even if they have to recast her, you know, Kyle has been dumped by Claire but he still wants her. But if Lola returned, I think she would turn Kyle’s head. I always enjoyed Lola on Young and the Restless. And one of the big reasons I did was because she always put Kyle in his place. She didn’t let him pull any of his nepo baby garbage with her.

You know, Lola didn’t come from money like Kyle and she was a hard worker. I also liked when Lola would hand back expensive gifts and tell him, “You can’t buy me. No thanks.” Summer, if you remember, tried like crazy to break up Kyle and Lola. And at one point, she even blackmailed Kyle into marrying her so that Summer would make a life-saving liver donation to Lola. But he still left Summer and went back to Lola even though he’d married her.

But in the end, Kyle lost Lola because she got an amazing chef opportunity all the way across the country. But what happened was it was really to facilitate the exit of Sasha Calle when she was cast as Supergirl. So they could easily bring back Lola to be the head chef at Society once again, even if they had to recast her. Plus, Claire doesn’t want a relationship right now.

So, Kyle could get with Lola and leave Claire alone. And that way, she’s got time to figure herself out before getting into a serious relationship. But then, Holden could be in a relationship, Kyle could be in a relationship, and Claire could be getting her head on straight. And also, these new couples could swap around again, and we could have Kyle and Summer reunited, which is endgame for a lot of fans. And then Theo could pursue Claire or Lola or just jet out of town again.
