Will Nick Newman & Diane Jenkins Hook up Again on ‘The Young and the Restless’?
The Young and the Restless had Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) hook up with Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) years ago and she’s back to GC this week. So, will the CBS soap do something twisty and pair single hot Nick with silver vixen Diane?
Do you Remember Nick Newman & Diane Jenkins’ Romance on The Young and the Restless?
Back in 2010, Diane Jenkins came back to Genoa City. But it was Maura West (GH‘s Ava Jerome) in the role. She had a fleeting romance with Nick Newman that turned to big trouble for him later. Do you remember Nick in handcuffs? (and not for a fun reason…)
By that time, she’d already romanced Nick’s dad, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). She’d also hooked up with Brad Carlton (Don Diamont). Those flings were when Susan Walters portrayed her on Young and the Restless.
But after the actor swap, it was Diane and Nick getting hot and heavy. They hid it from The Mustache. But after being caught time and again, they called off things. But once she’d had a roll in the hay with the eldest Newman son, she couldn’t stay away.
So, Diane Jenkins wound up sleeping with Nick and his dad both (not at the same time, fortunately…). But Victor pushed Nick Newman out of Diane’s life and claimed her for himself. But before she married Victor, she tried to reunite with Nick one last time.
After things fell apart with his dad, Nick Newman resumed sleeping with Diane but qualified that it was just physical. She’d also schemed with Adam Newman (pre-Mark Grossman) and did much of the town dirty on Young and the Restless. Then she died!
Why Diane Shouldn’t Be Alive at all on Y&R
Many fans of the CBS soap are dismayed that Diane Jenkins is back. It’s not so much about the character but about the improbability of her surviving her soap death. This was not an exploded cabin sitch where the cops didn’t find a body.
Not only was there a Diane corpse on the soap, but they dug it back up to do further testing during the investigation. If you weren’t watching The Young and the Restless back in 2011, you may not remember how big a deal this was on the soap.
It was a giant umbrella plot that had every legacy family a suspect in her murder. The suspects included Newmans — Nikki, Victor, Victoria, Adam, Nick, and Abby. (That was when Nick wound up in cuffs). And also, Jack and Ashley Abbott were suspected.

Plus, Tucker McCall, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), and Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) were on the police radar. But it was Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) who killed her. In the end, a judge ruled it self-defense.
Diane went after her rival Nikki with a syringe and Nikki conked her in the head with a rock killing her. Back then, Deacon said he bashed her head a few more times to make it look like a man did not — not a woman — to protect Nikki.
Later, they dug Diane back up for a second autopsy and found a drug in her that was also found in Victor’s safe (thanks to Adam). But the bottom line on Young and the Restless was that Diane Jenkins was well and thoroughly dead as of August 2011.
Upon her return recently, they explained that Deacon helped her fake her death. But the exhumation of her corpse pushes that explanation way beyond plausible. But, it’s a soap, so it is what it is. Unless it’s someone else in a mask, Diane is back indeed.
Vixen Alive — Will Single Nick Fall Prey to Her Again on Young and the Restless?
It’s been quite a while since Nick Newman had love in his life. And a lot of viewers hope he’ll be back with Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) now that word leaked that Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) is off the show soon. But will the soap twist another way?
True enough, it’s a different actress playing Diane than when Nick was into her. But the two current actors are only a decade apart in age. And Walters is a beauty. Is there any chance Diane Jenkins will try to slip between Nick’s sheets again?
That would be really twisty on The Young and the Restless. This she-devil has a past with most all the big players on screen now. Phyllis hates her as do Ashley and Abby for a variety of reasons. She once conspired with Adam and then turned on him.
They could put her into a love triangle messing up life for Jack and Phyllis. Or she could try and steal The Mustache back from Nikki. Or the soap might have her stirring the pot and plotting but not bedding anyone.
But if she does do the horizontal mattress mambo, it would be pretty wild to see Diane Jenkins back with Nick Newman. It feels like they’re clearing a path to either “Shick” or “Chick” but you just never know.
