Who Plays Brick on ‘General Hospital’?

General Hospital this week saw the return of Brick. It’s been a minute since the mob tech guru’s been around. And it’s prompted fans to want more info about the handsome mystery man. Here’s a look at the actor, what else he does, and Stephen A. Smith‘s other roles aside from ABC’s GH.

Who Plays Brick on General Hospital?

For the past five years, Stephen A. Smith played Brick. GH hasn’t revealed the last name despite a half-decade of the character. If the actor looks familiar, it’s likely from his day job. He’s a fixture on a ton of sports shows. And he’s so much wilder on there than his General Hospital alter-ego Brick.

Smith’s been on hundreds of episodes of Sports Century on ESPN. He also had his own show, Quite Frankly with Stephen A. Smith. He was a regular on Mike & Mike. And then there’s the aptly named The Stephen A. Smith show. Plus, he’s a fixture on First Take.

The New York native is also infamous for his dislike of the Dallas Cowboys. And like many of our readers, he’s a General Hospital superfan. He grew up with every TV in his house tuned into GH daily thanks to his four sisters. And even when he’s not on as Brick, he binges the ABC soap on weekends to stay current.

Brick’s Biggest Moves on GH

Back in May 2021, Brick made one of his biggest moves yet on General Hospital. This came when he aided and abetted Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). Then, Stone Cold and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) fled the GH parking lot. And a hitman was hot on their tails. But Brick took out the bad guy and saved the day.

But he’s had some other hot plots on General Hospital too. One, in particular, is Brick’s ongoing crush on Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright). In real life, Smith’s fave soap couple is Carly and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). So, it’s only natural he enjoys screen time with the duo.

Usually, Brick shows up a few times a year to do some high-tech work for the mob, when Damian Spinelli’s (Bradford Anderson) not around. GH fans always look forward to his appearances. But his biggest scenes so far were the daring shoot-out seen above last May.

Stephen A. Smith’s a “Natural” Actor Says General Hospital Alum Steve Burton

Smith chatted with Burton and Anderson on their Stone Cold and The Jackal podcast a while back. Then, the Stone Cold actor called Smith “a natural” actor. He said Stephen’s confidence shows on the screen as he plays Brick. In reply, Smith said he loves everyone at General Hospital.

The Brick actor also said his top priority on set is — “don’t mess up “. Talking to the General Hospital actors, he threw out a sports metaphor. Smith said the GH cast members are like football players playing hard for 60 minutes. He said then the kicker can come in for a minute and miss. He doesn’t want to be that guy.

In addition to his role on GH, Stephen A. Smith had other film work. He voiced a sportscaster, Mark Remy, in the animated film Rumble. He showed up as himself in a cameo in Almost Christmas. And he had a small part in the Chris Rock-led film I Think I Love My Wife. It seems Burton’s right — Stephen A. Smith is a natural.
