Is Steven Assanti Dead or Alive – My 600-Lb Life Obituary Issued?

The TLC fat show alum, Steven Assanti, turned 40 on December 2, 2021. So, he’s very much alive. According to our research, he’s living back in Iowa again, in a low-income housing apartment.

Since he’s been posting on social media as recently as May 2022, Steven’s definitely not dead. However, he had a very close call with COVID earlier this year.

Steven Assanti from My 600-Lb Life was hospitalized after dire complications of the coronavirus. He confirmed it was a near-death crisis. Before Christmas 2021, he asked for prayers because of his illness.

After Christmas, he said he’s “nearly out of the woods”. He was heading home soon and pledged to get the vaccine, as he was previously unvaccinated. He also spoke like he had a new lease on life after seeing it “about to end”.

So, as of this writing, Steven Assanti’s obituary isn’t needed.

Is TLC Star Still Married – Did He Reconcile with Brother Justin Assanti

My 600-Lb Life fans couldn’t believe their eyes when Steven Assanti began dating the very pretty Stephanie Sanger in 2018. Then, in May 21, 2018, a judge married them in Iowa.

Things seemed lovey-dovey as Stephanie often posted about how much she adored her husband. But things took a turn two years after their wedding. Stephanie filed a complaint of domestic abuse against her husband Steven.

You can see the case above. On July 15, 2020, and the court issued a temporary protective order (TPO) against Steven. Then, less than two weeks later, the charges were dropped as Stephanie didn’t appear in court.

At present, she’s still married to Steven. Our research didn’t locate a divorce case filed for the duo. And on Facebook, she still calls herself Stephanie Assanti.

So, what about Steven’s brother, Justin Assanti? Did they ever reconcile? The two appeared on My 600-Lb Life Steven and Justin’s Story Part 1 (Season 5, Episode 13) on March 29, 2017.

And then, there was Steven and Justin’s Story Part 2 (Season 5, Episode 14) a week later on April 5, 2017. They also appeared on Where are They Now? Steven and Justin Asssanti on January 3, 2018.

The brothers didn’t get along on their TLC episodes. And they remain estranged by all accounts. They don’t mention each other. And Justin remains in Rhode Island, far from Steven Assanti who was living in Houston, Texas then back in Iowa.

Will Steven Assanti Be Back on My 600-Lb Life?

One big question fans want to know aside from, where is Steven Assanti now, is whether he’ll be back on My 600-lb Life. As of now, that seems like an extreme long shot.

He moved to Houston to work with Younan Nowzaradan and got his surgery. And while he’s by no means rail-thin, he seems to have kept off much of his former weight.

In 2017, he weighed roughly 750 pounds. He dropped to 518 pounds during the taping of the TLC show. A year ago, we reported that Steven Assanti was at 525 pounds. So, he’s shed more than 225 pounds and kept it off.

However, it doesn’t look like he’s getting any slimmer. But maybe he’ll recommit. Steven Assanti now seems to be busy trying to generate money by making fan videos and living in a modest place in Iowa.
