Betty White Honored by Bold and the Beautiful

You can see the tribute card above CBS displayed this Monday. We lost Betty White just before her 100th birthday. In fact, People Magazine had pre-printed a special issue devoted to the funny lady. And the cover reads “Betty White turns 100” (see below).

In fact, she would have hit the centenarian mark this week. So, Bold and the Beautiful popped up the mention on what would have been her milestone birthday. Despite her age, the beloved actress was in excellent health. But six days before her death, she suffered a stroke.

E! News revealed the stroke was her cause of death. But her agent, Jeff Witjas, said she passed in her sleep and “peacefully” at her LA home. He also called Ms. White “a great lady “. Of course, her fans would agree. And that includes longtime B&B viewers.

An Amazing Life and Career

Aside from her guest spots on The Bold and the Beautiful, Betty White was a prolific actress. She seemed to pop up everywhere. In addition to her seven decades as an actor, she was the first woman to produce a TV comedy, Life with Elizabeth. She also starred in the sitcom.

She began on radio, then moved to the new medium of TV back in the day. Betty’s smiling face was a fixture on game shows for many decades. Her biggest TV role was as Rose Nyland on Golden Girls. She also played Sue Ann Niven on The Mary Tyler Moore show. That was also on CBS way back then.

When Was Betty White on Bold and the Beautiful?

In addition to appearing on B&B, Betty White appeared on several other soaps. She did three episodes of Santa Barbara and one on Another World. She also did a camera on Days of our Lives. These were all in the late 1980s.

Then, Betty nabbed a recurring node on Bold and the Beautiful in the mid-late 2000s. She did 23 episodes as Ann Douglas. If that last name sounds familiar, it’s with good reason. Ann was Stephanie Forrester’s (Susan Flannery) mother. Also Pam Douglas‘ (Ally Mills) mom.

When Betty White debuted on Bold and the Beautiful in the mid-2000s, Stephanie confronted Ann over childhood abuse. Ann denied that her husband abused her. And Pam took their mom’s side. Everything blew up. But Ann later acknowledged abuse by their dad and reconciled with her daughters.

Betty played the character off and on B&B from 2006 until 2009 when Ann died of pancreatic cancer. Her death, like Betty’s, was peaceful. Of course, she will be missed by a legion of fans. Rest in peace Betty White.
