Shen Williams says that telling her family the news about her cancer diagnosis is one of the toughest things she has ever done. Williams is the mother of Bar Smith.
During a recent episode of the MTV reality series, Ashley Jones Smith and Bar discuss his mom’s illness. She tells him that she will be there to support him through his mother’s illness.
Williams and Bar’s interaction during the emotional episode of Teen Mom left fans’ hearts breaking for both Shen Williams and her son Bar Smith.
She says she had to muster the strength to tell her son the bad news. Smith was left completely broken after his mom sat down with him, revealing that her doctors found a “bunch of malignant stuff” on her spine.
Shen tells her son that there is nothing the doctors can do about the tumor. She watches as he breaks down after hearing the news.
However, Williams attempts to lighten the mood a bit, adding that she is excited to be getting free massage therapy sessions due to her illness. Shen continues during the Teen Mom episode trying her best to ease his worry and pain.
She adds that she has upcoming oncology and hematology appointments. She also states she will be doing anything to keep positive and fight this disease as hard as possible.
Shen Reveals She Is Seeing Life Differently Since Cancer Diagnosis
Shen Williams tells Smith that it is crucial to her that he does not let her cancer diagnosis get him down. She tells Bar that because he has a wife and daughter who need him.
So, Shen wants him to keep his focus on continuing to take care of them. Shen assures her son that she is going to remain positive.
During the May 3 episode of Teen Mom, she also reveals that she is taking on a new outlook in life. Williams says that her scary cancer diagnosis has opened her eyes. And because of it, she states that she realizes how important it is to remain grateful in life, even for the little things.
The Teen Mom personality says she sees everything differently. Instead, she appreciates the importance of every moment and every person in her life.
Shen Williams is the grandmother of Ashley Jones and her son Bar Smith’s daughter Holly Isabella Lockett-Smith. Shen regularly spends time with her three-year-old granddaughter.

Shen also reveals knowing she will have a long and tough battle ahead of her. So, she is trying not to let things get her down. Shen, however, plans to focus on those she loves. She also plans on making the most of every moment with them all.
