Amy Slaton made her television debut starring in 1000-lb Sisters on TLC. She and her sister Tammy Slaton tip the scales to almost 1000-lbs when weighed together. While they both have goals of losing weight to get approved for weight loss surgery, Amy is taking it pretty seriously. The same can’t be said for her sister. But, Amy has a few more reasons to be motivated.
Amy Slaton is married to the love of her life Michael Halterman. And, they have wanted to start a family for a long time. But, Amy’s weight has always been an issue. Anyone has a higher risk pregnancy when they are over weight. But, Amy has been diagnosed as morbidly obese. The chances of her carrying a child to full term in that condition are very low.
So, Amy Slaton is determined to get healthy. With the help of numerous doctors, trainers and dieticians, Amy starts to drop weight. She remains dedicated to seeing her dreams come true. When she finally reached her goal weight, she got approval for a gastric bypass procedure. The surgery was a success and her weight plummeted.
Now, Amy Slaton is no where close to a total of 1000-lbs with her sister. Her health is rapidly improving as well. At a check up with her doctor, Amy found out she was pregnant. While she was very concerned about being able to carry the baby, she had a team of great doctors and fans to support her. Amy gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. She named him Gage Halterman. She is well on her way to reaching all of her dreams.
