‘My Big Fat Fabulous Life’: Why is Hunter Thore Moving to Atlanta?
On My Big Fat Fabulous Life, Hunter Thore keeps talking about moving to Atlanta — but why the push to move there? It turns out there’s a very good reason for the reality co-star to relocate from North Carolina to Georgia.
Why is Hunter Thore Moving to Atlanta – My Big Fat Fabulous Life Update
Fans of the TLC show have seen a whole lot of Hunter Thore in Season 10. That’s because his mom, Babs Thore, suffered a stroke. In fact, Hunter’s the one who found his mom and contacted 911 to rush her to the hospital.
This season, Hunter talked about always having to be strong and hold things inside because of all of Whitney Thore’s issues. The siblings argued on My Big Fat Fabulous Life over how to handle their aging parents, Babs and Glenn Thore.

In the midst of fearing their mom would die, Hunter’s trying to get back on track for his move to Atlanta. But why’s he so intent on relocating to Georgia? He was living in NYC and now is intent on heading further South.
But why? It turns out that MBFFL isn’t the only screen time for Hunter. He’s an actor with big plans for his future beyond his sister’s TLC reality show.
What Other Acting has Whitney Thore’s Brother Done Besides MBFFL on TLC?
Over the past seven years, My Big Fat Fabulous Life fans got to know (and love) Hunter Thore. At that same time, Hunter was busy pursuing his acting career. And he’s also a musician.
Hunter plays guitar in a metal band called Plague of Jackals. But it’s his love of acting that’s pushing him to The ATL. In case you didn’t know it, Atlanta is known as The Hollywood of the South.
You can see Hunter Thore’s acting reel above, but this one’s a bit out of date. Since 2014, he’s booked more than a dozen acting gigs outside of his appearances on My Big Fat Fabulous Life.
This is a passion he shares with his sister Whitney. She majored in theatre at Appalachian State University. In 2022 alone, Hunter completed four film and TV projects including the movie Torn, where he got top billing.
So, Hunter Thore’s plan to move to Atlanta is all about scoring more acting work in The Hollywood of the South. There’s a ton of film studios there including Marvel, Tyler Perry, Turner, Trillith (formerly Pinewood), and Blackhall.
Some films made there include Spider-Man Homecoming, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and The Hunger Games movies, including hundreds of others. Now, with Babs on the mend, Hunter Thore is in Atlanta and already working on his next project.
