‘Married at First Sight’: Johnny Lam Bares His Heart
Married at First Sight, newlywed Johnny Lam took a huge step in his developing relationship with Bao Huong Hoang. Johnny and his wife Bao are reserved with their feelings. The new groom went out on a limb to reveal his emotions toward his bride in the Lifetime experiment.
Married at First Sight: Johnny Lam Arranges Romantic Evening
Married at First Sight’s Johnny Lam sought the advice of another MAFS groom to help him pick out something nice for Bao to wear. Jose Cuero assisted Johnny in picking out a nice beach outfit for Bao in the marketplace at the resort.
Johnny revealed that his biggest fear on Married at First Sight is that he puts his heart on the line for his wife, and she doesn’t return his feelings. But Jose pointed out that sometimes Johnny Lam needs to be vulnerable and ready to accept that Bao might not be emotionally in the same place.
So Johnny arranged a beachside picnic supper for the two of them on Married at First Sight. Bao Huong Hoang seemed pleased with the setting. She has never been on a picnic before. Johnny Lam arranged for roses, candles, and Bao’s favorite wine to be waiting when they arrived. Bao said he went above and beyond anything she’d ever received before.
MAFS: The First Move Comes From Johnny
Johnny said he’s typically not the first person to make a romantic gesture in relationships. But since the Married at First Sight wedding, he’s not gotten a good sense of where he and Bao stand emotionally. So Johnny Lam said he wanted the next few days to start with him telling his wife that he likes her unequivocally.
After a toast to not holding back, he took a deep breath and, with some hesitation, told Bao that he knows love is not guaranteed. Johnny Lam said he wanted her to know where he’s at, as he tapped his heart. Bao sat patiently, waiting for her husband to find the right words on Married at First Sight.

Johnny Lam eventually managed to tell Bao that he really likes her and is starting to develop real feelings for her on Married at First Sight. He admitted he was afraid of the unknown, specifically how she feels about him. Bao took all this in for several tense moments before finally revealing that the feelings are mutual.
Married at First Sight: Bao is Embarrassed
Bao has what her new spouse thinks is an endearing trait, but Bao is self-conscious about it. Johnny discovered that his new bride snores. This keeps him awake at night because he is a light sleeper.
Married at First Sight’s Bao Huong Hoang admitted her snoring is one of her insecurities. So much so that at camp when she was younger, she wouldn’t sleep at all, so no one could hear her snore.
But Johnny Lam made light of it and confessed to Bao that he used headphones to block out the sound so he could sleep on Married at First Sight. She brought up the subject again after their beachside supper on MAFS. She said his joking was hurtful because the subject is so sensitive for her. Johnny promised not to bring it up again.
He said now they’re married, it’s something he will have to get used to. Johnny said Bao keeps throwing him curveballs when he thinks things are going well on Lifetime Channel’s Married at First Sight. Bao even offered to sleep in a different bed if it kept him awake. Will her insecurities get in the way of their marriage? Or can Johnny Lam overcome her fears and be the husband she needs moving forward?
