‘Little People, Big World’: Matt Roloff Reveals Farm’s Oldest Secret

Matt Roloff from Little People, Big World revealed one of the farm’s oldest secrets. He’s been sharing his life on the land for years. But it seems like there is still more to share.

Little People, Big World: Matt Roloff Shows off Secret Farm Feature

Matt Roloff recently had a part of the farm that most people don’t see cleaned. In that area, there is something that many people don’t know about.

The Little People, Big World cast member thought it would be interesting to share that part of the land.

The TLC reality star showed off a mineshaft built almost 30 years ago. According to Matt, most viewers aren’t aware of it because they don’t talk about it a lot.

It also came to be way before they began filming for the show. Matt said it has “never been featured or mentioned on the show.” At least to his knowledge.

The mineshaft was built in the early 90s and is located near the barn. It is around 60 feet long and even has a trapped door that connects it to the barn.

TLC’s Matt Shares Story behind Mineshaft

Matt Roloff had only been living on the farm for a few years when he came up with this idea. However, his vision for this mineshaft came to be thanks to his friends.

The Little People, Big World castmate’s friends showed him a picture they took of a mineshaft while hiking in the backcountry of Oregon. He realized that he would never be able to hike that far to see it.

So, Matt Roloff decided that he would build the exact same mineshaft he saw in the photo on the property. It took several months to complete the project.

According to the TLC star, many people don’t know about the history of the mineshaft. He also said that “despite popular rumors,” the tunnel doesn’t connect to the western town tunnels. It is a separate, underground tunnel system.

But, when Little People, Big World started to film, Matt had to lock up the trap door. He wanted to make the barn a safe and secure place for the production crew to work in.

Fans React to Little People, Big World Celeb’s Creation

Matt Roloff had many Little People, Big World fans wanting to know more about the mineshaft. One person is curious to know if you can still go through the tunnel.

Another person questions if the TLC celeb’s grandchildren play inside of it. And if it is “safe for the grandkids to play in.” A person even wants him to do a walk-through, so they can see what it looks like inside.

Other fans thought building a mineshaft on the farm was a cool idea. One person feels that it is something only Matt would envision.

Someone else said it looks like a “hobbit house.” One person also says it looks “beautiful with the trees hanging over.” Maybe viewers will see the mineshaft in future episodes.
