Is ‘Days of our Lives’ Canceled – Move to Peacock a Red Flag?

Days of our Lives shocked fans this week when NBC announced the soap is moving to their streaming platform — Peacock. When does this historic move take place? And what does this mean for the 57-year-old soap’s fate?

Days of Our Lives Removed from NBC Daytime – Will It Be Canceled?

This past week, NBC announced the long-running soap will no longer air on the network. Instead, DOOL begins streaming exclusively on Peacock next month. The news shocked most viewers.

Also, NBC Universal Chairman Mark Lazarus said this shift reflects the current viewership since most fans already stream Days of our Lives. Plus, he said on Peacock, the soap will reach a broader audience and bolster engagement.

Fans may see this as a red flag warning that the network’s taking steps to cancel the soap. If you’re worried that the move to streaming is the first step towards cancelation, that’s a valid fear. But so far, there’s no word of cancelation.

The network will air NBC News Daily in the time slot starting in mid-September. This marks the end of an era for DOOL. The beloved show has been a household name since it first aired in 1965.

For almost 60 years, the Emmy award-winning program filled a mid-day slot on NBC. Now, fans will have to watch the show online. The good news is you can reach Peacock through your cable or satellite and should still be able to watch on your TV.

DOOL Moves to Peacock on September 12, 2022

Days of our Lives moves from network TV over to Peacock streaming on September 12, 2022. Many DOOL fans are already familiar with the platform because of the spinoff that airs on it.

A full year ago, in September 2021, the streaming platform released the first chapter of DOOL: Beyond Salem. Then, in December 2021, Peacock aired DOOL’s first Christmas special, A Very Salem Christmas.

Finally, last month, viewers saw Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) and Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) reunite in the second chapter of Beyond Salem. Plus, the app already releases daily episodes for fans that prefer to watch on the platform.

However, the move angered many Days of our Lives fans. After all, some people want things to stay the same. do not stream content. Plus, all signs indicate that the free subscription to Peacock will NOT cover the soap.

So, that means to keep watching your NBC soap, you’ll have to pay for a premium plan. The cheapest is $4.99/month with ads and double that — $9.99/month — without ads. At any rate, prepare for the move on September 12, 2022.

Days of our Fans Get Bonus Content on Peacock

DOOL updates reveal watchers will not only get to watch current episodes of the show but past episodes as well. This means long-time fans can watch Bo and Hope’s epic romance and Stefano’s (Joseph Mascolo) reign of terror again.

And newer Days of our Lives viewers can see how certain storylines began. So, get ready to adjust how you access your beloved soap. Peacock does not offer a free trial. And they don’t offer their content on other platforms, so that’s the only way to see Days starting next month.

Another big question is whether DOOL will leave us with a cliffhanger when they swap from network to streaming platform. Will Abby’s murder be solved by then? Will Stefan O. DiMera be awake?

The last air date on NBC is Friday, September 9, 2022. Then, watch for the DOOL‘s historic move on September 12.
