Jazz Jennings got the invitation to be a part of an exhibit in a Smithsonian Museum. The Smithsonian Institution is a group of museums, education and research centers. The facilities aim to increase knowledge. And they wanted to feature one of the I Am Jazz celeb’s mermaid tails in their new exhibit. The exhibit is called “Girlhood (It’s Complicated)”.

When Jazz Jennings found out that they wanted one of her tails for an exhibit, she knew it was a big deal. According to her, the museum is one of the “most famous” ones out there. So, she felt honored and knew she had to take part.

At the age of 12, the I Am Jazz reality star came up with the idea of making mermaid tails out of silicone. According to the TLC star, she has always been into mermaids. As a kid, she had mermaid dolls and also made tails out of fabric and then silicone. She finds it fascinating that a lot of trans people have an interest in mermaids. She believes it’s due to them not having any genitalia.
