‘General Hospital’: When is Maxie Back – How Long is Kirsten Storms Off of ‘GH’?

General Hospital fans wonder how long Maxie Jones actress Kirsten Storms is set to be out on the sudser as she recovers from her real-life brain surgery. No doubt, GH viewers want Kirsten to take the time she needs to heal. But they also can’t wait for Kirsten’s return because we are all rooting for Maxie on the ABC soap opera.

General Hospital: Maxie Jones Struggling and Exits Port Charles Soon

GH viewers know Maxie Jones struggles to cope with not having her daughter Louise at home with her. But, of course, Maxie knows that her baby is safe and loved with Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) at the Q mansion. And Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) is a wonderful father. Plus, he knows how to keep his loved ones safe on General Hospital.

However, some people worry that Maxie is losing her grip on reality. Mostly, Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) thinks so – but some of the other Q’s as well suspect this too. However, Maxie finds it so hard to stay away from Louise that she feels it’s best to leave town.

Now, Maxie is preparing to leave for Texas to visit family and says she will likely be away for a few weeks. Surely, General Hospital fans know why Maxie Jones is heading out of Port Chuck for a while. That helps cover for some of the time off since her surgery was one she was able to plan.

Kirsten Storms Real Life Health Crisis Pushes Maxie Out of Town on GH

Much of the General Hospital fanbase knows what happened to trigger Maxie Jones’ exit from Port Charles – and Kristen’s hiatus from the soap. Recently, Kirsten Storms underwent brain surgery to remove a cyst that had split in two. The cyst was causing neck pain, migraines, and other symptoms. At first, Kirsten thought they were side effects from medication – or just part of aging.

However, the soap actress said an MRI showed a large cyst attached to the lower part of her brain. Thankfully, the doctors safely removed, it and Kirsten Storms felt immediate relief from her symptoms. But, of course, she needs time to recuperate. So, Maxie Jones won’t be on-screen on General Hospital for some time. That’s why she’s leaving just as the baby story kicks into high gear.

General Hospital Spoilers: Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) - Louise

On General Hospital, Maxie says she’ll be away from home for about three weeks. However, the length of Maxie’s time off depends on how quickly Kirsten Storms heals. Of course, Kirsten is keeping fans up to date. And she appears to be doing remarkably well. So hopefully, we won’t go without Maxie Jones for too long. Plus, what helps is that the soap appears to be on their summer dark weeks as she recuperates.

Kirsten Reveals New Hairstyle She’ll Rock on General Hospital Return

Recently, GH star Kirsten Storms shared some pics with fans to give them an idea of her current recovery progress. Of course, people were wondering if the doctors shaved Kirsten’s head for her surgery.

So, as you can see from the photos below, Kirsten was gracious enough to share a snapshot of her incision the surgeons made to remove the cyst that had attached to the General Hospital actress’ brain. They did have to shave part of her head – creating basically an undercut on the back of her head and nape.

General Hospital Spoilers: Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms)

The doctors had to shave the area that they needed to operate on. So, Kirsten Storms explains that Maxie will be rocking a top knot (she’s showing it above left) for quite some time because the back of her head is a buzz cut. She also showed her post-op stitches (above right). However, the General Hospital actress said her stitches are out and hair’s growing back in now.

Clearly, Kirsten is in great spirits about her situation. And, of course, the most important thing is that the General Hospital celeb is feeling better. But, of course, we’re all curious as to how long the GH star’s medical leave will be. But she’s busy binging Netflix shows, crocheting, and spending time with her daughter with her ex-hubby and co-parent, Brandon Barash, Harper Rose Barash.

How Long Will Maxie Be Out of GH?

General Hospital watchers are likely curious about how long it will be that Maxie Jones will be in Texas. The time line is that Kirsten had her surgery at the very beginning of June. It’s unclear exactly how much time Kirsten took off. But, at least several weeks seems logical. Of course, it could be longer. But, then, it will take time for her to film Maxie Jones’ next scenes.

So, we might be looking at around four weeks with no Maxie Jones. However, the showrunners are good at making things work. General Hospital updates recall that Kelly Thiebaud (Britt Westbourne) was out for ten days for a false positive COVID test. And they barely skipped a beat for that.

It didn’t seem like Britt was gone at all. Surely, Kirsten will be out a bit longer but with the summer shutdown at General Hospital going on right now, it could be that Maxie won’t be off-screen that long at all. So, hopefully, the powers that be can keep Maxie’s absence at a minimum. Maxie Jones fans are showing a ton of love and support to Kirsten Storms. And everyone wishes her a speedy recovery.

The General Hospital actress is doing great and eager to get back to work. So, hopefully, Kirsten Storms will return to GH sooner rather than later so we can see Maxie Jones get her baby girl back on the ABC soap opera.
