‘General Hospital’: 5 Reasons Cody Bell Doesn’t Deserve Mac as a Dad
General Hospital’s Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) isn’t very popular amongst fans — and for good reason. Many GH viewers wish the con artist weren’t Mac Scorpio‘s (John J. York) son.

#1 Cody Bell the Lawbreaking Schemer on General Hospital
As soon as newcomer Cody Bell hit the GH scene, it was clear that he was a shady character. He came crashing into Port Charles (quite literally) when he parachuted into the Metro Court pool.
And he’s been shaking up lives ever since. Cody is a drifter that never stays in one place too long. And he’s always looking for the biggest payout, recall General Hospital recaps.
Indeed, he hit the jackpot by finding his family in Port Chuck. But his real family doesn’t offer the big bucks, and Cody Bell is entitled. He feels that everyone owes him something.
So, he’s scheming his way into wealth by deceiving Mac. Of course, the chief of detectives is a far better father than Leopold Taub (Chip Lucia). But claiming to be Leopold’s son benefits him more on General Hospital.
If Leopold is his father, he can get his hands on the Ice Princess necklace that fell into Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) lap. No doubt, Cody is the polar opposite of Mac.
The legacy character is an upstanding citizen and has been in law enforcement for decades. So, the horse handler is using this to his advantage.
He’s telling himself he’s not good enough to be a Scorpio to justify his actions. But he’s conning everyone he’s starting to care about. And his scheme will surely come back to bite him on General Hospital.
#2 Cowboy Conned Britt Westbourne on GH
Currently, on General Hospital, Cody’s scamming Britt out of the diamond necklace that is rightfully hers. That is another huge reason he’s not worthy of the Scorpio family. Indeed, it looks like he was playing Britt from the beginning.
It seems Cody Bell knew about the necklace worth 35 million dollars. And he knew Britt was the way to get it. That’s why he blackmailed Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) to match him with Britt.
Britt is ready to face whatever it is Peter left behind for her. Could it change her relationship with Cody forever?

But now, he’s catching genuine feelings for Britt and may start to feel guilty for tricking her. However, Britt’s on her way out, so Cody Bell may continue his plot if he’s losing Britt anyway.
And it doesn’t end there. He has a way of finding trouble everywhere he goes. And he’s landed himself in the middle of more shady business.
#3 Wrapped up in Mob Biz on General Hospital
On top of his other schemes, Cody also works for lady gangster Selina Wu (Lydia Look). GH fans will recall that he tried to get in on one of Selina’s poker games at The Savoy.
Instead, he got himself beaten up by her henchman. Now, he’s a part of the games, but he must make sure things go the way Madame Wu wants.
If not, he’s in big trouble. Cody is neck-deep in illegal activity on General Hospital. No doubt, another reason he’s no good for Mac.
#4 Bad News for Dante on GH
Also, Cody may bring down his childhood pal Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna). Dante’s girlfriend Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) is on to the stable hand. And she will do everything she can to ensure he doesn’t hurt Spinelli or Dante.
But now Sam knows that by digging into hid past, she may also expose Dante’s past. So, Sam won’t be able to bring Cody down without dragging Dante down also on General Hospital.

#5 General Hospital Newbie Still Hiding Awful Past
There’s a good chance there’s far more to the newbie than he’s letting on. He might still be hiding many secrets. But eventually, the truth will come out that Mac is, indeed, Cody’s father.
Perhaps, he’ll slip up and get caught. Then, Mac might be unable to get over the lies on GH. So, he may never welcome his son into the family.
