‘Deadliest Catch’: Sig Hansen Doesn’t Trust Jake Anderson

Deadliest Catch fans discovered that Captain Sig Hansen doesn’t trust Captain Jake Anderson. What happened to where Sig developed this mistrust? And how will it affect their crab quotas?

Deadliest Catch: Jake Anderson Helps Out Mandy Hansen

Mandy Hansen took the wheel while Sig was off-camera. They’ve been coming up empty-handed and are looking for some good crabbing spots. Mandy explains that Jake owes her a favor, so she gives him a call.

The next Deadliest Catch scene cuts to a clip of F/V Saga, where the crew captures a ton of crab. Jake explains that he’s been tracking a school of crab. They’ve been heading west. When he talks to Mandy, he also tells her they’ve been doing well and to go west.

Mandy tells Jake Anderson that she trusts him, she just has to make sure it’s okay with Sig.

What Set Sig Hansen Off

After Mandy gets off the phone, Sig walks back on the Deadliest Catch camera and asks her what they were talking about. Mandy explains that he found a good fishing spot and he’s been catching lots of crabs.

While Sig agrees that the captains need to work together on Deadliest Catch, he explains it “depends on who you get the information from.” He starts asking her if she really trusts Jake and if she thinks he’s knowledgeable. From here, Sig tells her he’s not sure if he trusts Jake Anderson’s intel.

The Deadliest Catch scene then cuts to multiple past clips of Sig Hansen having problems with Jake, and some of the clips depict Jake Anderson not taking advice from Sig and issues with Jake’s bait.

He then tells Mandy that he thinks Jake Anderson was bragging about his catch on Deadliest Catch. Still, Mandy stays firm and says that Jake will never lie to her. From here, Sig Hansen tells Mandy to follow her gut — that if she trusts Jake, then they will go in the direction that he is. From here, they go west.

Deadliest Catch: Did Mandy and Sig Hansen Have a Good Catch?

Was Jake Anderson being honest? Or was he bragging, as Sig expected?

Their first catch seemed better than what it was and they emerged with a ton of crab in the cage on Deadliest Catch. Unfortunately, they were all females. This ticked off Sig Hansen and he starts telling Mandy, “I don’t know if his information was real,” referring to the conversation Mandy had with Jake earlier. Mandy cuts back at him by saying, “if it was one of your friends, you would be all over it.”

However, that was only the first catch, and they had a few more to observe on Deadliest Catch. The next one was better. The crew said they got 18 catches. The third catch was a success; they got a cage full of large male crabs.

Sig jokes with Mandy and says, “sometimes you just get lucky,” which makes Mandy laugh.
