‘Days of Our Lives’ Comings and Goings: Marla Gibbs & Backstreet Boy Head to Salem
Days of Our Lives comings and goings report TV legend Marla Gibbs joins the cast as Olivia Price – plus AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys has an upcoming cameo. In addition, Suzanne Rogers reprises her role as Maggie Horton, and Carson Boatman joins the cast as Johnny DiMera.
Days of Our Lives Comings and Goings: Marla Gibbs Cast as Olivia Price
DOOL comings and goings spill that Marla Gibbs joins her family in Salem as Olivia Price, the grandma of the Price family. The television legend recently received a Hollywood Star for her lengthy career (see below). She is probably best known for her role as Florence Johnston in the hit70-80s show The Jeffersons.
Plus, Ms. Gibbs played Jackee Harry’s upstairs neighbor on the series 227. Marla Gibbs also spent years on The Hughleys playing pivotal character Hattie Mae Hughley. And those are just a few of her many iconic roles. Now, Marla enjoys an on-screen reunion with Jackee, playing mother and daughter.

The 90-year-old actress joins DOOL as Paulina Price’s (Jackee Harry) mother, Olivia Price. Of course, Marla Gibbs is known for her quick-witted comebacks and tell-it-like-it-is humor. So, Olivia may have a thing or two on her mind about Paulina’s recent Salem real estate project.
Although Paulina tries to make amends and move forward with the original marketplace plans for Horton Square, her mom Olivia may have something to say about the way her daughter has treated her loved ones. As a matter of fact, Days of Our Lives viewers still do not know the identity of Paulina’s angel investor for Price Town – maybe it’s Olivia Price.
It is possible her dear mother, Olivia was on the other end of those mysterious phone calls to Paulina. In addition, Olivia will spend time with Lani Price’s (Sal Stowers) infant twins. They are Olivia’s great-grandchildren. And of course, Olivia Price wants to see her granddaughter Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens). So, Marla Gibbs is sure to thrill on Days of our Lives. Backstreet Boy AJ McLean Nabs DOOL Cameo
International music superstar, AJ McLean, recently shared with fans that he landed a bit part on Days of our Lives. AJ is one of five members in the multi-platinum band The Backstreet Boys. You may know these Grammy winners are the first group since rockers Led Zeppelin to have their first ten albums hit the #10 spot on the coveted Billboard 200. Plus, they are the only “boy band” to have done so.
This past week, AJ McLean showed his excitement for his upcoming role as “driver” on social media. See above AJ’s reveal and shout-out to his grandma about the Days of our Lives gig. He told fans this was one of his “biggest dreams”. It was obvious he was talking about the soap when he name-dropped beloved characters, showed the famed hourglass logo. And captioned it with “DOOL!” Watch for his one-episode pop-up appearance.
Maggie Horton & Johnny DiMera in August – Days of Our Lives Comings and Goings
At long last, Maggie Horton comes back from her extended stay visiting an ailing daughter. DOOL spoilers reveal she offers Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) some business advice. Plus, she can see her stepson is headed down the dark road his father, Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston), once took Titan Industries down. Will Philip heed Maggie’s wisdom?
Finally, a SORAS Johnny DiMera makes his Days of our Lives debut on Friday, August 19. DOOL spoilers reveal his twin’s bestie Chanel catches Johnny’s eye. This could cause some sibling rivalry between Johnny and Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold). And, it could set up a strange love quadrangle with the two siblings, Chanel and Tripp Dalton Johnson (Lucas Adams) in its corners.
Plus, Days of our Lives comings and goings spoilers said Johnny would be a lot like Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo). That means he’ll also be a lot like his dad EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel). Last we saw, EJ just found out Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) cheated on him and was enraged. So, his son might arrive just in time to see his dad turn full on wicked…
Now, Days of Our Lives is pre-empted through August 6 with the first episode back on Monday August 9. That’s for NBC airing the Summer Olympics.
