Ashland Locke is the Big Villain ‘Young and the Restless’ Desperately Needs

Young and the Restless spoilers wonder if Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) will be the next big villain in town. Every soap opera needs a big bad to keep everyone on their toes. With Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) playing nice, there’s no one on Y&R making big trouble – just some waves. Ashland came in as a ruthless businessman with a nasty reputation. However, he recently showed a softer side. But it could all be an act on the CBS soap opera.

Young and the Restless Spoilers: Is Ashland Locke Fooling Everyone?

Ashland Locke arrived in Genoa City as a cutthroat negotiator. However, after his heart attack, Ashland appeared to become a gentle giant. He had originally planned to fight for sole custody of Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez.) But he changed his mind when he told Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) that he was dying of cancer.

However, Young and the Restless scoops ask – what if it is all a ploy? Ashland’s diagnosis caused Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) to suggest they merge their companies. What better way to get an easy in at Newman Enterprises? So, Vikki’s chomping at the bit to get the deal signed. However, she may regret it if Ashland Locke is actually playing her to get what he wants on Y&R.

The businessman asked everyone to keep his cancer a secret on Young and the Restless. But it somehow became public recently. Was it Ashland Locke himself who leaked his health information to the media? If Ashland is plotting behind the scenes, it would make perfect sense. While people are worried about his health, they will let their guard down. Even Tara’s begun to trust the New Yorker.

And remember, on the most recent Young and the Restless, he made a big scene accusing Tara of leaking the info. That could be fake outrage to throw them off the scent of him as the leaker. His ex-wife is a schemer, of course. But she’s not a big bad villain like the soap needs. She’s just a petty woman who wanted to take over Summer Newman’s (Hunter King) life…

Ashland Out For Revenge on Y&R?

Several people have wronged Ashland Locke in Genoa City. Victor Newman used Ashland’s coronary event to force him to sign over his media company on Young and the Restless. That’s pretty unforgiveable. Yet Ash doesn’t seem to be holding a grudge. Pretty strange for the Locke Ness Monster.

Plus, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) helped hide his estranged wife and the boy he thought was his son. Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) is also an enemy since Ashland learned of his affair and that he is Harrison’s biological child. Yet, he surrendered pretty easily. It’s all blamed on the cancer diagnosis on The Young and the Restless. But is there more to it?

So, Ashland Locke may show his true colors soon. Young and the Restless fans know the soap opera needs a nasty villain. No daytime drama is complete without someone fans love to hate. In the past, they’ve have cult leader Ian Ward (Ray Wise). Crazy Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown). And Jack’s wicked doppelganger Marco Annicelli. There’s no one like that now on Y&R – and it’s needed.

Richard Burgi Is The Perfect Bad Guy for Young and the Restless

Richard Burgi is a skilled actor. He has played a bad guy before over on General Hospital. He did a great job as treacherous serial killer District Attorney Paul Hornsby. Richard is the right man for the job. So, let’s hope that the writers aren’t wasting his talent making him a teddy bear with a few months to live. A vengeful Ashland Locke is a much more interesting character.

So, Ashland could fill the void left by Adam who’s on the road to redemption. Chelsea Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) clearly has one last rotten plot left in her crazy head – but then she’ll be gone too. And we can’t have GC with no one to fear, right? So, wait to see if Ashland Locke is the perfect villain that Y&R needs so badly.
