’90 Day Fiance’: Chuck Potthast’s Cancer Affects His Love Life

Chuck Potthast reveals how cancer affects his love life on 90 Day Fiance: Diaries. He wants a companion. But, it’s not easy for him to open up.

90 Day Fiance: Chuck Potthast’s Relationship History

Chuck Potthast opens up about his love life on 90 Day Fiance: Diaries. He married to Elizabeth Potthast’s mother when he was just 18 years old. They were high school sweethearts.

At the time, she was expecting their first son, David Potthast (who doesn’t appear on the TLC show). So, they wed when she was eight months pregnant. And they later had six more kids, including Elizabeth.

Then, 20 years later, Chuck’s marriage failed, and he got a divorce. But, it wasn’t a surprise for him. It wasn’t the life he and his ex-wife wanted. However, it hurt him to break up his family.

Yet, Chuck Potthast feels that his life has changed for the better. The 90 Day Fiance reality star has been working on his physical appearance and health.

He has even dropped a lot of weight. And now it seems like he may be thinking about getting back into the dating world.

Chuck Wants to Find a Companion

Chuck Potthast was diagnosed with bladder cancer back in 2016. He explains that this type of cancer can be dealt with in two different ways. He could have removed the tumor or tried chemotherapy to save his bladder.

However, his bladder was past the point of being saved. So, he had it removed. Yet, Chuck is now cancer-free. But, the 90 Day Fiance: Diaries star has an ostomy bag that his urine flows into.

He will have to deal with it for the rest of his life. And it has affected his ability to let someone get close to him. Elizabeth Potthast’s dad has had a rough couple of years, building his business and dealing with family drama.

So, he feels that it’s time for him to think about himself and have some fun. He is also at a point in his life where he would like to have a companion.

90 Day Fiance Celeb Faces Obstacle in Love Life

Chuck Potthast feels that the biggest obstacle he has to overcome while dating is telling women about his “physical situation.” He thinks that it will take a “special person” for him to commit to and be willing to open up to.

Elizabeth Potthast’s father decides to see a relationship coach that his daughter, Jenn, recommends to him. He opens up about his cancer history and how it has affected him physically. It has stopped him from being intimate with people.

The relationship coach tells Chuck that he needs to accept what happened to him first before anyone else can. She wants the 90 Day Fiance: Diaries cast member to be confident in who he is before welcoming someone else into his space.

Chuck is thankful to be around still. Since his cancer diagnosis, he has been able to walk two of his daughters down the aisle and welcome three grandchildren into the family. However, he still isn’t sure if he’s ready to date.
