‘1000-lb Best Friends’: What to Expect on New TLC Show
1000-lb Best Friends is the new show coming to TLC in February 2022. Fans can expect familiar faces from other shows they love, and some new friends.
1000-lb Best Friends: Get Started with 1000-lb Sisters
1000-lb Best Friends follows Meghan Crumpler and her best friend, Vannessa Cross. If those names sound familiar, there is a good reason for that. They started on the show Too Large, where they tried to lose weight to get weight loss surgery. Dr. Charles Procter is a weight loss specialist who starred alongside them in his show Too Large as well. He is a fan-favorite among the TLC weight loss surgeons for his good looks. But before he had his own show, he was on 1000-lb Sisters.
Dr. Procter dropped Tammy Slaton as a patient in Season 2 because she was making no progress in her weight loss. But some fans suspect him dropping her had to do with him filming and taking on patients for Too Large. Dr. Proctor will be in 1000-lb Best Friends as Vannessa’s weight loss surgery specialist. He will most likely be Meghan’s surgical recovery doctor as she received the surgery on his show. He does aftercare for some time shown in 1000-lb Sisters after Amy Slaton’s surgery.
TLC New Show with New Faces
1000-lb Best Friends stars Vannessa Cross and Meghan Crumpler will not be the only ones on the journey. In Too Large, Meghan was the only one getting the surgery until Vannessa got inspired and wanted to try. Now their other two besties want to try as well. Joining them will be Ashely Sutton and Tina Arnold. The four of these super-sized besties will push their friendship to the limit.

All four will be supporting each other and pushing one another past their limits to meet their goals. A trip to a water park will make a big splash as they try out water slides and swim. Also, fans can look forward to them taking workout classes. In the classes, they hang from the ceiling attached by bungees. Meghan says, “Let me tell you. Four big attitudes can make things kinda crazy.”
1000-lb Best Friends: What to Expect from Four Besties
1000-lb Best Friends got compared to 1000-lb Sisters. Many fans of the show are saying Meghan Crumpler is the “New Amy Slaton”. Vannessa Cross is the “New Tammy Slaton.” But this couldn’t be further from the truth. A big difference between the two is their financial situation. Too Large focuses on how Meghan has money to buy the right foods and join a gym while Vannessa is not as lucky. She also takes care of her children and has to get food from food banks that aren’t always healthy.
The addition of Ashely Sutton and Tina Arnold makes this a unique adventure. They’ll try viral internet weight loss contraptions like the weight hula hoop. And spend a lot of time traveling. Soap Dirt shares that 1000-lb Best Friends airs on TLC on February 7.
