Adam Newman

Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) is one of the most polarizing characters on Young and the Restless. He’s the youngest son of legacy character Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). He’s also the troubled black sheep of the family.

Adam is one of two children Victor had outside of his long-running marriage to Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott). His mother is Hope Wilson, a blind woman who grew up on a farm in Kansas.

Young and the Restless‘ Adam Newman was born in 1995. Then, in 2008, CBS did a SORAS (soap opera rapid aging syndrome). That pushed him to his mid 20s. Chris Engen originated adult Adam.

Then, he left the role and Michael Muhney took his place for five years. He was reportedly axed from Y&R under a haze of allegations, none of which ever aired out in court and Muhney maintains his innocence.

Then, Justin Hartley tackled Adam Newman on Young and the Restless. But he left in 2016 to launch a primetime career. So, Y&R killed off the character in true explosive soap style.

Then, in 2019, CBS recast Adam with Mark Grossman. Many fans complained they wanted Hartley or Muhney back. However, Grossman quickly won over Y&R fans with his adept acting and good looks.

After descending into dark places since his Young and the Restless return, Adam Newman is now reconciled with his dad, The Mustache. But he lacks love in his life. He’s starting a new phase with redemption in hand.
