5 ‘Young and the Restless’ Returns We’d Love After Quarantine – Gina Tognoni And…

Young and the Restless is on break from shooting, but when it’s back, many fans would like to see Gina Tognoni on the CBS set – even if not as Phyllis Summers. Leaks from the set say the powers that be use the quarantine hiatus to shake things up. Here are five returns we’d like to see.

#1 Gina Tognoni Back as a New Y&R Character – Can Phyllis Have a Secret Sister?

Many fans of Young and the Restless raged when the CBS sudser abruptly axed Gina Tognoni as Phyllis Summers. Then, they brought in Michelle Stafford to take back the role. It didn’t sit well with many viewers. So, how about the best of both worlds and both Gina Tognoni and Stafford?

We could see Young and the Restless creating a secret, never mentioned sister for Phyllis Summers. So, Gina Tognoni could be an even wilder younger sister of Phyllis who traipses into Genoa City to stir the pot. That would be a fun way to spice up things and bring back Gina.

Young and the Restless: Phyllis Abbott (Gina Tognoni) - Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard)

#2 Cane Ashby’s in Demand from Many Young and the Restless Fans

Y&R watchers keep asking when’s Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard) coming back to the sudser. With Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) returning on an open-ended stay, fans of “Lane” want them together. Right now, Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) getting close to her on Young and the Restless.

So, bringing back Cane could also add some brotherly rivalry into the plot with Billy and Lily. And Goddard seems interested and staying in touch with fans. Plus, the actor wasn’t pleased he’d Young and the Restless had written out his character. So, maybe in the hiatus break, they’ll write him back in again.

#3 Where Is Doug Davidson – Chief Paul Williams Needs to Return to Y&R

Fans want to know why they do not see Paul Williams around GC on Young and the Restless. Doug Davidson’s a legacy character with a sizable fan base. Yet, whenever there’s a police matter, it seems like it’s just Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) that shows up to help.

There’s even a petition started by Young and the Restless super fans to get Doug back on the show as Paul. Perhaps if the writers script a good villain, then we’ll need the police and more of Chief Paul. So, that leads to the next suggested return…

Young and the Restless: Ian Ward (Ray Wise) - Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk)

#4 Ian Ward Back – Because Young and the Restless Needs a Good Villain

Y&R hasn’t had a good villain in quite a while. There was the icky human trafficker and then JT Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill), a good guy rewritten for no reason into a villain. So, how about getting Young and the Restless to bring on a real villain that’s a fan-favorite?

So, how about writing a storyline for Ray Wise to come back as charismatic and creepy cult leader Ian Ward? That last time he was on Young and the Restless, he tried to burn down Newman Tower. Plus, Ian’s always a lot of wicked fun. And if we bring back Ian, why not also bring back a bad girl?

#5 Crazy Patty Williams Returns for Jack Abbott – Y&R Needs a Little Crazy Too

Right now, Young and the Restless keeps Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) single for no reason. But, there’s a woman out there that adores him. Nutty Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) is always fun. Plus, if you bring her back, that’ll bring back her brother Paul. And also her partner-in-crime Ian.

Plus, Stacy’s wrapped her run on Days of our Lives as Kristen DiMera, as Eileen Davidson’s taking over the role she originated. So, maybe this quarantine lockdown gives Young and the Restless writers time to craft a good story with bad guys and good guys, romance, rivalry, and soapy fun.

Let’s hope they find a way to bring back Gina Tognoni, even if it’s not as Phyllis Summers. And who wouldn’t like seeing Ian, Patty, Paul, and others back on Y&R on CBS daytime? We’ll just have to wait and see. But, let’s hope the writers use their downtime to rethink and get these dragging plotlines moving.
