‘Young and the Restless’: Phyllis Summers’ Circus Taunt Triggers Sally Spectra – Here’s Why
Young and the Restless spoilers confirm Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) triggered Sally Spectra‘s (Courtney Hope) meltdown that led to their physical altercation with one well-placed insult. Phyllis hit a major nerve when she confronted Sally on the CBS soap. The fallout brings the event to a halt and it was one crack that was too much for the designer, but which one and why?
Young and the Restless Spoilers: Phyllis Summers Jabs at Sally Spectra’s Buttons
Sally Spectra’s arrival at the Newman Media party makes a splash, to say the least. When she walks into the shindig on Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) arm, all eyes are on them. To say she is made to feel unwelcome is an understatement on Young and the Restless.
First, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) reads the redhead the riot act for what she did to Summer Newman (Hunter King.) Nikki warns her to stay away from her family, or she’ll pay. Young and the Restless scoops hint Phyllis Summers is also shocked to see who Adam brought as his plus one.
Phyllis Summers makes a beeline for the troublemaker and demands she leave immediately. However, Sally Spectra is having none of it. They get into a verbal sparring match. Red calls Phyllis a “monster from a horror film” and she can let that slide. But her telling the other woman to “take her circus act somewhere else” became fighting words on Young and the Restless.
Sally escalated things by throwing her drink in her rival’s face. Then, Phyllis takes it up a notch, of course, dumping a bucket of ice water on Adam’s date. So, what triggered Sally to take things up a notch? Bold and the Beautiful viewers may recall that her parents are carnies and grifters – really crummy people.
And she and her sister, Coco Spectra, briefly spent time with their parents in the circus before they went to live with their grandmother who raised them. So, without knowing it, Phyllis hit pay dirt with that insult. It struck at Sally’s terrible childhood, her neglectful parents, and all her insecurities. If Phyllis realizes this, she could hold it over her head on Young and the Restless.
Adam Newman & Jack Abbott Break Up Chick Brawl on Y&R
Once they’re both wet, they charge at each other. As their fight turns more physical, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Adam step in. Both men restrain the women. It is interesting to note that once again, it is Jack that helps Phyllis Summers in her hour of need on Young and the Restless. Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) shows up in time to see Jack’s arms around her, though.

Viewers will note that Adam not only stepped in but gets pretty handsy with the fashion designer. He doesn’t just pull her away. Adam takes her upstairs to clean up. That’s when Sally Spectra latches onto him for a passionate kiss. It looks like Adam might hold back for a moment. He’s got Chelsea and Sharon on his mind on Young and the Restless.
But he doesn’t want Chelsea Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) back. And he can’t have Sharon Newman (Sharon Case). So, he may dive into something with Sally. Both have felt like outsiders most of their lives. Now they offer support to one other. Even if it won’t be some epic love story, it could be fun. And he’ll enjoy rubbing Phyllis Summers the wrong way by spending time with Sally.
Young and the Restless Scoops: Battle Won’t Step Between Phyllis & Sally
There was a brief cool down between Sally Spectra’s rivalry with Phyllis Summers. However, that all changes after the Newman party meltdown. Both women are fuming and out for revenge on Young and the Restless. Things could get scary as Phyllis has proven she will go to extremes to get what she wants.

Long-time fans will recall she ran Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell) down with her car back in the day. However, Sally Spectra can also give as good as she gets. While still in LA, Sally faked a fatal illness to win back her man. Then, she kidnapped her ex-boyfriend’s new love in a crazy attempt to get pregnant since the other plot failed. Phyllis might have met her match in Sally. So, keep watching this epic battle goes as both redheads vow vengeance.
