‘Young and the Restless’ Casting News: Judith Chapman Moves to DOOL, Mal Young Lies To Fans

Young and the Restless casting news indicates Gloria Bardwell (Judith Chapman) will be a shrinking presence in Genoa City. Judith Chapman signed a contract with Days of Our Lives and will be a featured player over there instead! In more casting news Mal Young told fans that Eileen Davidson exit isn’t goodbye.  However, Eileen clarifies she has, in fact, left the show for good.

Young and the Restless Says Goodbye to Judith Chapman’s Gloria Bardwell

Sad news for fans of Y&R as it has been reported that Judith Chapman has signed with Days Of Our Lives. She will appear on the NBC soap in the role of Diana Cooper. In a strange twist, she will be Leo Cooper’s (Greg Rikaart) mother. Longtime viewers know Chapman and Rikaart are also mother and son on The Young and the Restless as Glo and Kevin Fisher.

For months, fans have asked to see Gloria Bardwell front and center. Instead, this daytime legend is playing doorman to Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). How many times can she keep others out of Billy’s office while he and Phyllis Abbott (Gina Tognoni) do the nasty?  Judith Chapman will remain on recurring status with Young and the Restless. However, it is safe to assume she is MIA in the future.

Eileen Davidson Sets Record Straight – Reveals Mal Young Lie

Young and the Restless showrunner Mal Young has gone a record to say we have not seen the last of Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) in Genoa City. He said that “she is just popping off for a while. She will still be a massive part of the show.”  With so many fans up in arms over Eileen’s departure, his statement now seems a weak attempt to quiet the controversy based on Eileen’s recent clarification on her exit.

Recently, Eileen revealed the truth, stating, “Thanks for the support but I have left y and r last week. I’m not taking a break. I did say I would be open to coming back for a party or something possibly down the line. Just wanted to clarify!!!” Eileen’s last scenes will air in mid-October. That means Mal might have been trying to put out fan fires after so many upsetting events.

First, the Bells sold Y&R to CBS and now Mal Young is running amok. Next was Doug Davidson getting sidelined, shocking fans, and then Eric Braeden pleaded with the show to stop the madness. This lie by Mal Young is just another brick in the wall irritating fans and worrying them over the fate of the CBS soap.

Future of Young and the Restless in Jeopardy?

Young and the Restless ratings are down, there was the secret change in ownership, and major longtime fan favorites leaving Y&R, so fans now wonder if there’s something brewing they don’t know about? Almost one million viewers have been lost in the last year and there are some troubling accusations of harassment behind the scenes.

In the last year, multiple stars jumped ship. These include Doug Davidson, Eileen Davidson, Greg Rikaart, Mishael Morgan, Melissa Claire Egan and now Judith Chapman. There are also rumors that Christian LeBlanc may be the next to go. Even the current cast has felt the need to chime in regarding the direction the show has taken.

Matt Hanvey’s tongue in cheek epitaph Y&R could be disturbingly accurate (see above) unless something changes at CBS Daytime. Fans are increasingly worried about the future of Y&R.
