Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) and Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry) ramp up their quest for Elizabeth Thornton’s hand. Local saloon owner Lucas is more direct in his attempt at Elizabeth Thornton’s heart. He is also more worldly and traveled than Nathan is. In recent seasons of When Calls the Heart, Lucas Bouchard built a town library to win her favor. He also took her to a reading event in Union City.
On the other hand, Nathan Grant is quiet and not so bold in his affections. Hearties see Nathan become more confident at showing his interest and admiration for Elizabeth Thornton on When Calls The Heart. Meet the Canfields, a new diverse family moving to Hope Valley on Season 8 of When Calls The Heart. Joseph Canfield (Viv Leacock) moves his family to Hope Valley with plans to buy the gas station. Minnie Canfield is the wife, played by Natasha Burnett, and is a very protective mother to both their children.
Little Angela Canfield (Vienne Leacock) is 12 years old and a gifted piano player. Nine-year-old Cooper Canfield (Elias Leacock) is a great student for teacher Elizabeth Thornton. Cooper even goes on an adventure with his teacher.
Yes, the Canfield children are played by Viv Leacock’s real-life children. The new family brings Elizabeth Thornton a lot more challenges, as one of the Canfield children is blind. Angela has been home-schooled for some time but eventually begins attending school on When Calls the Heart. Minnie Canfield isn’t’ sure she trusts Elizabeth with her daughter’s schooling.
