Erin Krakow, who plays Elizabeth Thornton on When Calls The Heart, told fans she was as sad because Season 8 has come to an end.

She thanked the Hearties for their support. This year has been a wild ride for Erin’s character, Elizabeth. She finally put away her grief for her late husband and followed her heart to a new love.

Hearties chose sides early on, and each side had valid reasons for selecting their champion for Elizabeth’s love. Before the season, WCTH star Erin Krakow said When Calls The Heart would be full of ups and downs. Erin promised fans they wouldn’t know for sure until the end but that Elizabeth Thornton would make a choice. So it seems she will end the love triangle once and for all.

A co-producer of When Calls The Heart also promised that the suitor whom Elizabeth Thornton didn’t pick would not leave Hope Valley. She also said that he would take the bad news “like a champ.”

Since neither actor will the show, producers hope viewers will accept Elizabeth’s choice and be happy.

Welcome to Hope Valley. Erin Krakow announced after the Season 8 finale of When Calls The Heart that the show has been renewed for another season. So viewers can continue their watch party nights, but expect some changing times.

Followers of the Hallmark channel show have been using hashtags to show their support to renew the Canadian frontier series. Their efforts were successful. The ratings likely helped seal the deal for a Season 9, announced by Erin immediately after the finale.

According to screenwriter Cierra Winkler, the Season 8 finale for was the highest-rated episode in the history of WCTH. There were over 2.792 million viewers.

According to the Hallmark drama showrunner John Tinker and his wife, Ronda Rich, When Calls The Heart has been rated the number one Sunday night show. And, not just once, but several times since mid-April. A record-breaking four million-plus viewers watched episode nine of WCTH. Episode 10 was the number one show again, beating out all cable shows, whether scripted or non-scripted.

The Hallmark drama was also rated higher than 12 other Sunday night network shows. Hearties have been diligent in their support of their favorite show When Calls The Heart. Viewers faithfully watched each week to see the latest storyline.

Followers said last season was a roller coaster ride. In a sneak peek we see some possible some guest stars, Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing) returning, and more mounted police. There is even talks that Lori Loughlin may make a surprise comeback.

Some favored the love triangle story, and others felt Elizabeth Thornton, should have picked one man from the beginning. Regardless, they tuned in each week to see how Elizabeth’s story developed.

When Calls The Heart: Erin’s Fellow Castmembers Speak on the Upcoming Year

Two WCTH co-stars, Kavan Smith and Pascale Hutton, gave an interview about When Calls The Heart. In it, they spoke of Elizabeth’s choice and what’s in store for their characters, Lee and Rosemary Coulter. Both actors assured fans they have been pushing the writers to give them a storyline that includes a child. But neither one can say what will happen, considering the logistics of having children on set during a pandemic.

The on-screen couple also spoke of Rosemary finding her creative outlet and starting a newspaper.

Kavan Smith talked about Lee wanting to build something meaningful. He rather than just supplying the lumber for others to build things. This is the impetus behind Lee’s desire to run for Mayor. They also talked about Lee needing to build a theater for his wife, Rosemary. Whether it will happen in Season 9 of When Calls The Heart is anybody’s guess, said Kavan. Pascale Hutton discussed Elizabeth Thornton’s pick of Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) as her mate.

The Rosemary Coulter actress said her hope was for the ending to be full of passion. And, she felt Erin and the writers achieved that. Pascale mentioned a pre-season interview by Kevin McGarry, who plays Nathan Grant on Hallmark Channel’s When Calls The Heart. Kevin said one of Elizabeth’s suitors pushes her to be better. And the other man needs her to help him be better.

Now that the finale is over, it’s possible to see which suitor was which. According to Elizabeth Thornton’s actress, Erin Krakow, Season 9 will have new stories for the town of Hope Valley.
