The Last Kingdom Season 3: Official Release Date Finally Revealed

The Last Kingdom fans have been waiting a very long time for Season 3. Whether it’s a new image or a new teaser, every tidbit of information is welcome. TLK fans will be pleased to know that an official release date has finally been confirmed. Season 3 is set to premiere in its entirety on Netflix on November 19, 2018.

The Last Kingdom Season 3 Coming November 19

Just last week, The Last Kingdom released a teaser trailer for the show’s third season. The teaser was only half a minute long. In it, viewers saw familiar characters like King Alfred gearing up for war. After defeating Sigefrid in battle at the end of Season 2, it will be interesting to see what the new season has in store. The teaser ends with Ragnar making a clear statement: “Let it begin.” At that time, the teaser only mentioned that the third season would be coming soon. Judging by this latest news, the folks over at TLK weren’t kidding. A matter of days after dropping the teaser, we have an official premiere date.

Preparing for war on TLK

It looks like the characters in The Last Kingdom Season 3 are fully engaged in all-out war. This is standard when it comes to TLK and shows of its ilk. No episode is complete without the guttural cry of “Shield Wall!” echoing with murderous intent. After both Ragnar and Uhtred took their revenge on Kjartan for killing their father (and after dispatching Sigefrid to Valhalla) it will be interesting to see what perils – and enemies – await in Season 3.

New characters in The Last Kingdom Season 3

According to Express, there will be some new players in the upcoming season. The first half of the 10-episode season is expected to be based on Bernard Cornwell’s fifth book in The Saxon Stories (The Burning Land). Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon) will cross paths with Skade (Thea Sofie Loch Naess). The complex cat-and-mouse relationship between Uhtred and Skade will likely be explored. Uhtred is a force to be reckoned with in his own right. It will be interesting to see Uhtred test his mettle against another formidable warrior. Uhtred tends to dwarf those he comes across. Seeing him contend with another character on his level is worth the price of admission.

What to expect in The Last Kingdom Season 3

While there are certain things that will only become known once The Last Kingdom Season 3 premieres, there are a few things that we already know. One of these things is the cameo appearance by Bernard Cornwell. While specifics regarding his character are unknown, we do know that he will cross paths with Uhtred at some point during the season.

Growing unrest between King Alfred and Uhtred will be something to watch. King Alfred and Uhtred haven’t always seen eye to eye. That said, they’ve been able to put their differences aside for the greater good when it counts. In Season 3, King Alfred will want to protect his legacy and the land he’s fought to secure. Uhtred will likely be caught in the middle once again as he grows closer to his brother Ragnar and begins to question himself and his goals. It’s suggested that King Alfred and Uhtred will have a falling out in The Last Kingdom Season 3. While this has happened before, it would certainly stir things up in the new season.
