‘Little People, Big World’ Season 24: Release Date – Amy Roloff Confirms Family Drama

Little People, Big World season 24 release date is top on the minds of fans of Amy Roloff and her growing family of grandkids, ex-husband, and new love.

Recently, Amy dropped some hints, plus we’ve got the info you need on when TLC/Discovery should launch the next season. Hint. It’ll be 2023, given our research.

Little People, Big World Season 24 Release Date

TLC likely will not release the debut date of LPBW Season 24 until a few weeks prior. They usually send out a press release about six weeks in advance confirming the series renewal, start date, and some teaser info for what viewers can expect in the new season.

Given this reliable pattern, we don’t expect TLC to officially confirm S24 until March or April of 2023. That fits their long-running pattern of keeping their cards close to the vest on what reality series they’re renewing.

Last year for Little People, Big World Season 23, they issued the PR on April 4, 2022, for its May 17, 2022 season premiere. A decade ago, Discovery/TLC announced renewals earlier, but in this more competitive market, they hold off until much later.

TLC Canceled LPBW After Season 6 – Yet It’s Still on…

If you’re a longtime watcher of the Roloffs, you’ll know that they’ve been on our TV screen since 2006. When it started, Amy Roloff had four young kids at home while the farm was just starting to bustle.

LPBW debuted in March 2006 with a 21-episode season (20 plus a pilot). That fall, in October 2006, a second season began just five months after Season 1. That was another 22 episodes.

Seasons 3 and 4 ran in Spring and Fall of 2007, with TLC airing more than 50 episodes about Amy, Matt Roloff, and their kids that year. Seasons 5 and 6 followed the same pattern in March and October of 2008, with nearly 50 episodes.

Then, Seasons 7 and 8 did about the same in 2009. And then Seasons 9 and 10 had a run in 2010. And then came shocking news. In August, TLC delivered the shocking news they’d canceled Little People, Big World.

Canceled But More Little People, Big World Episodes

In August 2010, TLC issues a press release that stunned fans. They said they’d canceled the Roloff family show. The press release said: “One of television’s favorite families prepares to say goodbye as TLC confirms that the previously announced upcoming sixth season…  will be the series finale.”

Strangely, the press release listed it as Season 6 rather than 10 (by the standard season count). TLC was counting the years of split seasons as one rather than two. Later, TLC changed the protocol to match what was more popular.

Matt and Amy Roloff said in the series cancelation notice that: “The show has been an amazing and unforgettable experience for our entire family” calling it a “rewarding journey”.

Despite that notice in the Fall of 2010, in 2011, we saw six specials branded as add-ons to Little People, Big World Season 10. Then, in Fall of 2012, was a very strange Season 11/spinoff hybrid.

These episodes were branded “Wedding Farm” and centered on Roloff farms’ efforts to become a wedding destination and four non-wedding specials about the family. So, it sure seems that TLC (and fans) just couldn’t quit watching Amy and her loved ones.

Seasons 12-14 aired with less than 10 episodes each in Fall 2013, Fall 2014, and Summer 2015. Then, as Amy and Matt’s marriage fell apart and started living separate lives, we got two more seasons in 2016, with more episodes than in recent years.

S17-S19 each aired in Spring of 2017 through 2019. Then, 2020 also got two seasons — in Spring and Fall. 2020 also got two episodes in Spring and Fall. Amy moved out in S20, and Season 21 was slashed to five episodes due to COVID. Season 22 brought Amy Roloff’s wedding. And S23 just wrapped.

Amy Roloff Confirms Little People, Big World Renewal – When Does Season 24 Debut?

On a recent social live stream, Little People, Big World matriarch Amy Roloff talked about Season 24. She said, “if the season does come out, it may not come out until like March or April.” And she added that they only know when TLC announces.

However, last year, Amy already spilled the beans that they’d gotten S24 approval. She told ET in late 2021 that they’d been renewed for two more seasons. That would carry them through 2023.

Given the available info and Discovery’s track record, LPBW S24 should debut in May 2023, (give or take a month) but with confirmation withheld until a few weeks prior.

About continuing to film Little People, Big World for TLC, Amy said late last year that it depends on what all participating family members think about renewing. Below is a look back at their very first episode…

Plus, she said it depends on whether “there are stories to be told” still. But Amy said, “as far as I’m concerned, it just keeps going,” and seemed optimistic about continuing to let cameras into her life with Chris Marek.

For now, it seems like she confirmed S24 back in 2021, and the door’s open to more. And Amy Roloff also teased more drama to come, saying twins Zach and Jeremy Roloff remain estranged and rarely see each other. Maybe we’ll see that in Season 24.
