Doubling Down with the Derricos: Dad Deon Derrico Struggles with Loss
One of the most challenging things a parent can go through is the loss of a child. Both Deon Derrico and his wife Karen Derrico went through the same loss. But Deon dealt with it very differently than Karen did.
When Karen delivered their latest three children, Doubling Down with the Derricos star Deon was worried that one of them was going to end up like Carter Derrico. Carter Derrico is their non-surviving son from their previous set of triplets. In fact, the sweet baby perished only hours after his birth.
The doctors couldn’t get the feeding tube down the baby’s tiny throat. And they knew Carter was going to perish, so they let Deon and Karen hold him.
Deon Has Difficulties Bonding with Dawsyn
Deon Derrico from Doubling Down with the Derricos admits that he is acting differently with his daughter, Dawsyn. Karen Derrico and her husband went to the hospital to bring their daughter home. But it was scarier this time because they would need to feed the baby through her feeding tube.
Karen brought the baby home on Christmas Day, and everyone was excited. But the feeding tube was complicated, and TLC’s Deon said he didn’t remember anything and wouldn’t come over to help. Later, Karen told Deon that she felt like she was in it alone.
Fans of Doubling Down with the Derricos felt both of the parent’s pain as they watched them deal with the difficult situation. Despite the fact that Deon knew he was acting differently with Dawsyn, it doesn’t seem like he was able to stop it.
