Counting On‘s Jill Duggar Dillard and Derick Dillard aren’t afraid to speak out about their relationship with Michelle Duggar and Jim Bob Duggar and the rest of the family anymore. In fact, Jill recently got very raw about how things are with her family.
Counting On: Jill Duggar & Derick Dillard Leave the Show
Around three years ago, Jill Duggar and her husband Derick Dillard decided to leave Counting On. Jill had been a big star on 19 and Counting and then on this spin-off show. The TLC show was about her and her sister Jessa Duggar Seewald and their families.
In recent seasons of Counting On, Jim Bob and his wife Michelle took over again. The network took their show off the air after the scandal with their oldest son Josh Duggar. But it seems like TLC forgot about that and let them in the driver’s seat again.
Viewers recently asked Jill Duggar and hubby Derick Dillard why they left, and she shared some shocking information. Derick also shared his feelings on the matter. Watchers of Counting On shared their surprise at how serious things got for the young couple.
Jill & Derick Unable to Make Decisions
Derick Dillard and his wife Jill told fans their contract with the network was serious. In fact, Derick said they couldn’t move, get different jobs, and make other life choices without network approval. Derick said if they ever went back, they would have a very different contract.
Derick Dillard and Jill Duggar said their life was overtaken by being on Counting On. And they couldn’t do anything without cameras in their faces. Derick said they had no private time and that leaving the show was a great decision for their family.
Jill said she felt like they lost their power by being on the show. Even though Jill Duggar grew up on reality TV, it was next-level since it focused on her and her family. But now Derick Dillard said they know better, and they even went to court to get the money owed to them from being on the show.
Counting On: Moving Forward with Confidence
Jill did say she wishes she had a good relationship with her family. But she and Derick understand it takes time to heal things. And when they left Counting On, no one was happy about it.
After Jill started speaking out, her family seemed to start coming around again. After she shared information about the lawsuit, her sis Jessa Duggar came over and brought her coffee. Fans of Counting On said it seemed like a peace offering.
Later, viewers learned that Jill went to her sister Johannah Duggar’s 15th birthday. And they hope Jill Duggar gets to enjoy mended relationships that she wants for herself and her family – while she and Derick Dillard enjoy their lives off-camera.
