’90 Day Fiance’: Avery Mills and Omar’s Visa Petition Approved – Did TLC Ask Lawyer To Lie?

90 Day Fiance: Before The 90 Days couple Avery Mills and Omar Albakkour got the approval of the first step towards the spousal visa. According to a post made by Avery’s mom, Teri Mills, the couple will be moving forward with bringing Omar to America. Even though an immigration lawyer said that it was going to be next to impossible on the TLC show. So, did producers set up the scene with the lawyer telling Avery devastating news to create a cliffhanger for viewers?

90 Day Fiance – Omar Albakkour and Avery Mills File For Relative Visa

Avery Mills was afraid that she was never going to be able to live with her husband Omar Albakkour in America. However, it seems like Omar could be making his way to America after all. Instead of filing for a K1 visa (a fiance visa), the 90 Day Fiance reality couple filed for a Petition for Alien Relative.  Because Avery Mills is now Omar’s wife, Omar has family in America and that can be his way to immigrate to the United States. While other immigration visas, like the K1, have a limited number that are given out each year, there is no limit on this type of visa, so it increased Omar’s chances of getting approved.

According to the 90 Day Fiance: Before The 90 Days reality star’s mom, Avery Mills and hubby Omar Albakkour got their petition approved. Teri Mills posted a picture of the approval on social media. The picture included the approved petition to get Omar to move to America. Teri captioned the picture, “looking like I will have an amazing son in law in the US much sooner than we thought!”

TLC Couple Have Long Road Ahead

The approval of Avery Mills and her Syrian spouse Omar Albakkour’s visa petition happened fairly quick. Although, the 90 Day Fiance pair still have a long way to go for Omar to get his green card. The petition approval is only the first step. Omar’s application still has to go through a process.

90 Day Fiance: Immigrant Visa Process Chart

While his application is still processing, Omar must live in a country that has a US Embassy. But, the Embassy in Syria is no longer open due to dangerous conditions. However, the Czech Republic Embassy in Damascus Syria is handling a limited number of duties for the US interests. These duties include passport applications, notary services, and reports for births abroad. So it’s unlikely this could be an option for Omar.

The 90 Day Fiance: Before The 90 Days couple could be living apart from each other for up to a year. The processing time depends on the relationship between the petitioner and the beneficiary. The approval for immediate relatives to get their green card can take around 5 to 12 months after filing. If approved.

Did TLC Set Up Lawyer?

As seen on the show, Avery Mills went to see an immigration attorney to find out what her options are for bringing Omar Albakkour to America. Unfortunately, Avery got the bad news that it would be hard for him to move to the states. Due to the travel ban, there would be a five percent chance that they would approve his application and said it was almost impossible. Although, now it seems like TLC may have found a lawyer that would give Avery only bad news.

Soap Dirt talked to an immigration lawyer that had previously filmed for TLC’s 90 Day Fiance. His footage was not shown on 90 Day Fiance. Why? Because he gave the couple good news. The producers had the couple later meet with another lawyer that gave them bad news. This tactic adds drama and makes for better television viewing.

On 90 Day Fiance: Before The 90 Days as Avery Mills is told she may never be able to be with her husband in America. Knowing that this is not the case, it looks like TLC encouraged the lawyer to tell Avery the worst-case scenario. This way it would create drama and leave the fans with a great cliffhanger. It seems there is a chance Avery and Omar will be able to have their happily ever after.
