’90 Day Fiance’: Anna Campisi Explains Wearing Wedding Rings – But Is It True?

90 Day Fiance star Anna Campisi is explaining why she and her fiance (now husband) Mursel Mistanoglu were seen wearing wedding rings on the TLC show. She says she received the green light from the network to explain after attention to the rings was written about first by Soap Dirt. Her story does include exchanging rings, but Anna claims the exchanging of the rings didn’t take place at a wedding.

90 Day Fiance – Anna Campisi Welcomes Foreign Fiance To America

Anna Campisi met her fiance Mursel Mistanoglu in a beekeeper Facebook group. She then made a trip to Turkey to visit him. As seen on 90 Day Fiance, Mursel moved to America to marry Anna in 90 days. Their relationship seemed perfect at first. However, Mursel doesn’t know a lot of English and he’s is also hiding Anna’s kids from his family. Add to that, Mursel wanted Anna to abandon her children and move off with him to Turkey.

On the latest episode of 90 Day Fiance, Anna Campisi’s friend threw an engagement party for the couple. Anna thought that this would be a great opportunity for Mursel Mistanoglu to meet all her friends. Hoping that he would fit in. However, it was hard for Mursel to get to know everyone. Since he doesn’t speak English very well.

TLC Couple Spotted Wearing Wedding Rings

In the scene showing Mursel Mistanoglu arriving at the airport, he was wearing a wedding band on his left hand. On the same 90 Day Fiance scene, Anna Campisi was also wearing a wedding ring on her left hand. What many casual fans don’t know, is that reality shows don’t always film in order. Sometimes they even make pick-up shots later to fill in gaps they don’t have coverage for.

90 Day Fiance: Anna Campisi - Mursel Mistanoglu - Wedding Ring

Since Anna Campisi and Mursel Mistanoglu are now married, it seemed like the airport scene might have been staged and filmed after he arrived and after the couple’s wedding. If this is the case, it’s not the first time it’s happened on 90 Day Fiance. Paul and Karine filmed some scenes after their wedding. However, the scenes they filmed were for events that took place before the wedding and the couple forgot to remove their rings. So, the TLC show aired scenes before their wedding with them wearing their wedding bands.

Anna Says The Rings Are From A Turkish Engagement Party

Anna Campisi is now trying explain why on 90 Day Fiance she and Mursel Mistanoglu are both wearing rings on their left hands before they were married. She say she was engaged last year and while in Turkey the couple had a traditional Turkish engagement ceremony. But, they didn’t do all the engagement customs. Like the meeting between both families. Since her family was not in the country. She said that the ceremony that took place in Turkey involves exchanging rings.

On the surface, it seems like one tradition explains why the 90 Day Fiance cast members wear rings. But, a Turkish source told Soap Dirt that it doesn’t add up.

90 Day Fiance: How Engagement Rings Are Worn In A Turkish Ceremony

Part of what 90 Day Fiance‘s Anna says is true. She did have a traditional engagement ceremony in Turkey. In a Turkish engagement ceremony, rings are exchanged and they are called “Alyans”. Anna has even shared pictures of the event.

Anna explained the ceremony and it sounds accurate according to our Turkish source. Friends and family gather and the two rings (Alyans) are tied together by a red ribbon which is cut after they are officially engaged.

But, this is where Anna’s story breaks with Turkish tradition. The Alyans (engagement rings) are put onto the RIGHT hand of the engaged couple. The rings are then moved to the left hand after they couple is officially married. Mursel Mistanoglu is a very traditional Turkish man. Our source said that while Anna may have moved her ring to her left hand to follow American tradition, it’s very unlikely that Mursel would wear a wedding ring on his left hand if he was not married.

In the pictures of Anna’s ceremony in Turkey, Both Anna and Mursel are wearing the rings on their right hands as tradition dictates. So, at some point the couple moved the rings from their right hand to their left, as is done when a wedding takes place.
